Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Not really like anything else rexy. They are really sweet. Looks like a kiwi fruit inside but much sweeter.
All the dragonfruit I've ever eaten tasted like nothing. Definitely not sweet! Maybe it has to be picked and eaten straight away rather than sit in storage somewhere before it gets to the fruit shop. The only time I've ever liked pawpaw was when it was picked off the tree in front of me on a small Pacific island!

I agree shop bought ones really have little flavour.

just wondering if we should make a 'For Sale: The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread' for aussies, cos they already have one on BYC but really only americans can seel their eggs on that,
just wondering what everyone else thinks of this idea....???

Satay has tried it to no prevail. But if you rally up enough Aussies that are keen for it then a few of us may join.
There is another Aussie thread here on BYC called Australians....where are you all, something like that!

I have also seen A LOT of Aus newbies so perhaps you could PM them.

I can help if you would like?

Howdy Everyone :)

I am still lurking in the background

On the upside, how wonderful to read about the new bubbies and definitely on the down side, the losses. I was rooting for you Sam, I am so sorry you lost your little one. Megan's Chickens, while you did it for all the right reasons, I am sorry for the hole parting with your girls will have left; maybe in the not so distant future you will be able to have some more :)
That is/was one impressive tree Fancychooklady!

So why did I go from lurking to posting?

We have pipping and peeping and I am so excited I had to share!!
Cilla took a short leg stretch when I got home. We had 4 confirmed pips and definite peeping. Just before bed time she was pushing and prodding and someone was appealing so I would say that little one has shed his/her egg shell pyjamas. No visual confirmation but plenty of peeping .. maybe before I head off to work tomorrow I might get to see them which will make for a very nice start to my day but I can guarantee my work day will not finish quick enough :)

Hey guys I finally found a pellet that the chooks will eat. It's a show bird finisher and it's a micro pellet. Even small enough for the silkies to eat. It's 20% protein and as most of mine are moulting that should come in handy. The pear and plum trees are laden down with fruit so their diet is , sprouted barley twice a week, sardines in pasta twice a week , mixed grain and pellets ( free take ) and all the plums and pears they can eat.
Raining here today, my garden is very happy.

I am yet to find a pellet any of mine will eat :) Even the pellets that are in the mix I get for them, they leave behind and my old girl Zena polishes them off lol (the dog that is)
I wish I lived closer, there is no way my boys would leave any of the fruit behind for the chooks to eat :)
