Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I am yet to find a pellet any of mine will eat :) Even the pellets that are in the mix I get for them, they leave behind and my old girl Zena polishes them off lol (the dog that is)
I wish I lived closer, there is no way my boys would leave any of the fruit behind for the chooks to eat :)

We still get a good feed of fruit ourselves and last year I made lots of plum jam. Mine won't touch regular sized pellets, but these are only as big as a grain of rice. A little on the exy side , but the others work out to be more expensive if they are just wasted.

Howdy Everyone :)

I am still lurking in the background ;)

On the upside, how wonderful to read about the new bubbies and definitely on the down side, the losses.  I was rooting for you Sam, I am so sorry you lost your little one. Megan's Chickens, while you did it for all the right reasons, I am sorry for the hole parting with your girls will have left; maybe in the not so distant future you will be able to have some more :)
That is/was one impressive tree Fancychooklady!

So why did I go from lurking to posting?

We have pipping and peeping and I am so excited I had to share!!
Cilla took a short leg stretch when I got home.  We had 4 confirmed pips and definite peeping.  Just before bed time she was pushing and prodding and someone was appealing so I would say that little one has shed his/her egg shell pyjamas.  No visual confirmation but plenty of peeping .. maybe before I head off to work tomorrow I might get to see them which will make for a very nice start to my day but I can guarantee my work day will not finish quick enough :)

:celebrate :jumpy

Congrats Teila :)

mmmmmmmmm plum jam :) I used to have plum jam and cheese sandwiches when I was a kid :) Still do when I can find a nice jam :)
I agree, it's better to pay that little bit more for something that's not going to be wasted :)

Hey guys I finally found a pellet that the chooks will eat. It's a show bird finisher and it's a micro pellet. Even small enough for the silkies to eat. It's 20% protein and as most of mine are moulting that should come in handy. The pear and plum trees are laden down with fruit so their diet is , sprouted barley twice a week, sardines in pasta twice a week , mixed grain and pellets ( free take ) and all the plums and pears they can eat.
Raining here today, my garden is very happy.

Glad you found something they like fancy. I use a show bird breeder micro pellet for the marans. They don't seem to eat as much of that either too, It is a bit pricey as well.

Thank you Satay :)

I got the briefest of glimpses this morning before work. I definitely saw 1 yellow and I think there was another yellow and a grey or black; or maybe still a bit wet. At this stage I think there were three out of their egg shell PJ's :)
The little yellow one that I definitely saw because a little head was peeping out at me is so so tiny .. I don't remember Tina and Suzi (my Silkie bubbies) being that little! lol

Hopefully more news when I get home this afternoon.

Cilla looks very pleased with herself and in her element. She ate some breakfast out of my hand and had a drink from her special little cup. Luckily Hubby is working from home today so he is going to keep an eye on the new family for me :)

So excited!! Lol

First 9 on the way to the brooder last night. Others are still in the bator and I can't get any decent pics in there as the light is bad.

Oh, cute. That little black one looks like an 'Elvis or pricilla ' depending of course on gender.
We are getting some steady rain now. Hope your mum is staying indoors today. Perhaps a trip to Mona, if she is into genitalia on the wall type art.
