Yeah I have an appoint tomorrow just wanted to relieve his irritation of it today if I could

If you're going to see the vet tomorrow anyway, I wouldn't start the dog on anything with antibiotics at least, a one day treatment with one antibiotic and then switching to something else isn't a good idea. Rinsing it with saline is never a bad idea though.

Yeah, sometimes it's ingrown eyelashes that cause the irritation and starting antibiotics could just be masking the problem.

I also would like to add that King George has a wonderful nature ! From all the pics he is gentle boy

He has the kindest nature. He clucks to all the babies and waits for them to take the food from his beak. He actually jumps the gate to participate in ' daddy daycare '.

The scabs on his comb are from when he copped a hiding a couple of weeks ago.

He was an inbred rescue, we got him at 5 weeks being sold as an 8 week old. Due to inbreeding he developed vertebrae disc disease. The disk basically exploded pushing fragments into his spinal chord causing paralysis from the chest down. Costly experimental surgery, first of its kind attempted in the world and he has full feeling back in all limbs, he can't walk properly but he can toilet and climb and walk. He loves other animals, was raised with a bunny and a rat, he became severely depressed when they passed from old age. But he seems to like the chickens as companions, they were not to sure of him at first but they are relaxed around him now. We also have a brushtail possum, an alpha brushtail possum and a Tasmanian devil living with us.

What an interesting life he's had!

I have to admit don't envy you the tassie devil, one of my most lasting memories of Tasmania was the awful smell of road kill that accompanied those at the animal park we visited.

Aaaargh! Not a very good morning.

Poor little 3 week old Allsorts is very sick. Allsorts was fine when (s)he went to bed last night, bouncing around with mum and Bear; eating, drinking, fighting over a meal worm. This morning when I let them out and gave them breakfast, I didn't notice anything in the excitement to get breakfast but when changing their water, I noticed that Allsorts was just standing in the run, not doing much and not eating. Bear is fine, eating, drinking, bouncing. In 2 hours Allsorts has gone down hill fast. No diarrhoea, no discharge, no external wounds, nothing to indicate an illness as such. I am wondering if Allsorts was maybe injured accidentally my mum during the night or early this morning in the mini-run or has something going on internally.

I am torn on what to do; to be totally honest, I do not believe Allsorts is going to make it and I do not want to bring Allsorts inside and have his/her final hours spent with me poking and prodding. At the moment Allsorts is snuggled under mum's chest with Bear and while it is so very sad, I am thinking I should just leave him/her there.
