I'm going to attempt to definitively sex my chicks over the week-end.  They will be 6 weeks old so most should be clear, I hope.

Well wish mw luck guys. Going to try putting my mum and bubs back again this weekend. Last two attempts ended with the silky in what looked like cock fights with the much larger faverolles.

This time I'm just letting the two bantam frizzles back with them. They had a little wander out with them the other day and there was just your regular pecking order quick pecks and then they pretty much ignored them though they didn't seem quite sure what to do about peep (now pepper) but didn't peck her. Thought I'll give the smaller size flock a chance to work themselves out then try the big girls again. Penny (mum) is getting impatient to be back in the pen and seems fixated on the nesting area when she can.

Good luck Appps, yesterday I transported 16 chicks , 4 still to hatch eggs and 2 ' fire breathing ' hens from the main coop to a much more secluded birthing suite. The more obnoxious of the 2 , flapped and fussed all the way but once she saw the bams again she settled back down. Our granddaughters were here yesterday afternoon and of course they wanted to see the newbies. After seeing her striking out at me they stood well back. 10 little pacific black ducklings came up from the river and walked all over their hands whilst they were feeding. That delighted them.
