Hmm Megacakes I have only had isa's that tried to kill my babies and that was through the wire. While they had lovely cuddling natures with me they were down right nasty to the babies.

I would seperate the broody and at day 21 of her sitting ( at night ) pop some under her ( my lorp was stubborn and sat for 46 days after week 2 I gave her 4 eggs spare from incubator.)

Well there is a simple answer to that ... Don't go to work

Was supposed to rain today but I dont see that happening...

off topic... chicken poop. Ive been putting it in compost bin but now thats full I've just been throwing it on the garden. Then I read that its a big no no.... so what does one do with excess poop if you cant really wait a year to use it?

I have a circle made out of old truck guards that I fill with the chicken poop. I turn it over once a week and after about 3 months I use it on the garden. If you have too much you could bag it up and sell it for a couple of bucks outside the house or give it away to someone you know that gardens..

How did everyone go in the storm last night? They tell me it was a NSW wide storm warning so guessing I'm not the only one with a flooded chook pen

It hit while we were at my daughters school disco last night, thought we would be sleeping there getting to the cars would have been like jumping in the pool! My older two and a friend had been sitting outside on a covered verandah where it was cooler playing their DS.s when the heavens opened, it was so bad a cleaner rescued them by opening a classroom for them because they were getting soaked on the verandah and they couldn't get back to the hall. Now that's some heavy rain! Strange thing is it only says we got 8mm on weather zone. Felt more like 50, wondering if it missed their weather station.

Sure does sound like more than 8mm.

I have 16 chicken houses. I put it in several compost bins (don't forget you need to water it), spread around citrus trees, and directly onto veggie beds and garden beds and dig it in - no problems.

AussieChics Hhhhm, not sure about the chicken poop. My compost bin is not full yet but getting close. I am thinking of getting a second one. The plan being that the first one can do its thing while I fill up the other one. Then, when the second one is full, share the first one around the garden and then start filling it again.
