Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Oh no. She is usually a great Broody. Wonder if something scared or chased her off

Lol you can have mine if you like I'm thinking of putting a few chicks under her tonight

It is indeed odd for her to abandon her nest. I lost my black belgian yesterday too she was dead in her cage when we got home from brissy.

I wonder what happened.

I have no idea. She was fine when we left and as we got home a neighbour came over for coffee as she was leaving she looked in the Belgian cage and said oh no she's dead...

Chickens sometimes seem like such delicate animals, or maybe they just seem so tough because they sure make their presence felt. Sorry for your losses Satay.

Here's my new Dorking hen I picked up from the sale on Saturday - I wasn't going to come home with any (I need to sell some!) but when her old owner was almost begging me to take her I couldn't say no. Bad chicken maths!

Welcome to the family, Squeak. I'm hoping she'll be a good mate for my existing Dorking, Bubbles

Hehe bubbles and squeak :D love it!

Sorry for your loss satay, has it been super hot where you are? I once lost 2 brand new pol hens because my dog (puppy) was running the fence, it's like they just died of fright!! I gave up on chooks after that I was so devastated, I'd only bought those 2 because the pup had killed my original ones!!!

Thank you :) No it hasn't been hot.. It's been quite nice in the 30's.

Im a little worried she's losing interest. Due on Wednesday and I find her off the nest in the arvo. Been checking the eggs 1 was cooler then I'd like but the others were still warm. Thankfully its been warm here. Who knows how long she's been off them.

when do they start pipping? Around day 21?
