well I would love for it to be hot out...it snowed four inches and keeps snowing....but I got all the walls up....all I have to do now is join the middle section, wire the walls , put the net on top and to the doors...almost there...and then one more coop

ChristieB I am sorry to read about your cat and totally understand the decision in relation to finances. A long time ago I had a cat that was diagnosed with a twisted bowel which was going to cost approx $2,000 to fix; I did not have that kind of money at the time and had to make the decision to let her go

I always thought it a bit strange that I had to register my two desexed, microchipped, indoor cats who never go outside except on a leash or in their cat run while the cat from across the road is probably none of the above and spends it’s afternoons tormenting the wildlife and is just one of the reasons my gals free range is always under supervision

Hey there DylanL welcome

nice little family you have there!

I hope everyone is safe from the bush fires and my thoughts go out to all those who have lost their home; I believe the number was around 5 now? Just awful!

No news of note from here; Blondie is still trying to convince me that she needs babies to the extent that when I give her any treats, she proceeds to try and feed them to her imaginary babies and Dusty is more than happy to assist Blondie with that day dream

I'll try get some more pics today, they lay tiny white eggs, when fully grown there only 4-500g! The breed is in the Australian poultry standard, but I haven't come across any for sale so I'm Pritty lucky I got a hold of some :)

Thankyou :) and I'm not sure what the count is to be honest, but it hasn't been great, most of my family are volunteer firefighters and around Christmas they are always out fighting fires

*****URGENT*******
I'm in the adelaide hills near the fires we are evacuating out property the neighbours seem to think we won't get hit. I'm unsure if I should have the chooks and geese free or locked up. Please help!!!

If they are used to free ranging I'd probably leave them out so they can escape if god forbid the fire reaches your place,
Good luck!!

Thank you I hope it doesn't come through everyone seems confident that I'm more worried about foxes over fire I've opted to lock them up with sprinklers going in their pen I hope this is the right decision

I would think the smoke would get them free ranging long before fire anyway. At least in the pen the sprinkler will help keep smoke down maybe?
