Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Ignorance is bliss. Cheers , I'm enjoying a glass of red.

I feel so terribly hurt. I pride myself in going to great strides to ensure the health of my chickens. Currently I'm tearing myself up over not having cleaned their poop boards for 3 days (normally I clean them once every 1-2 days but I was on the road all day today) and thinking that surely the RSPCA will be irritated that I have not cleaned my poop boards for 3 whole days.

Then my rational mind kicks in and says, "Dude. If that's their biggest complaint, you're -awesome-."

;_;

That's not me being this good, I'd have brought them home on the spot, its my OH saying no, not until the area's ready for them, but originally it was going to be another week away but I've at least managed to wangle it so that things will be done this week so he's happy to bring them home this weekend instead.

I must admit I've spent the last few weeks researching and through Pinterest found this site last night and from there I found this thread, had a bit of a read of the first few pages then plunged right in

.

I hope the new boy settles in well for you. I don't want any roo's at least not yet.
Roos definitely serve their purpose! Yesterday I heard my head-roo calling the chooks into the coop and saw a hawk overhead. A good roo helps protect the hens.

In other news, Bumblebee's toe is looking VERY good. Her wound is closing nicely and the toe is now half the size it was before.

She got her usual bandage change/cuddle before being put to bed - however, considering how well it's healing and the weather report, she got put back out into the coop rather than put to bed in my son's room tonight in a chicken nappy.

You mean Rosecomb bantams, Dylan?

Not me - I only have 2 bantam chickens

Yes roscomb bantams :) hoping to start breeding my lot in a few months, was wondering if anyone had any white ones (breeding the blue and white variety you end up with blue)

I've certainly never seen them mentioned before you posted pics of yours.

I didn't realise they were so uncommon, more people should have them!

Perhaps they got the address wrong and meant your neighbour that has heaps of chooks that you feed? Sorry that you have to go through this though. It really stinks!

When my little roo first started calling 'his' pullets over for treats they all ignored him. Then they started coming over for a look at when he had found them to eat. Today he made the come here for tasty snacks call and one of my big austrolorps wondered over to see what he had found. The poor little guy nearly died of fright. He shot off to find cover.

It ended up with all the big girls having a snack of whatever it was.

My little Ancona roo also did this when he was quite young. He'd tidbit for his pullets and my dominant hen - a great big Australorp would run over to see what he had and he'd flee, screaming. XD

Now she's his biggest fan and his most devoted hen. She's still way bigger than him though. XD

That looks great. :)

I'll try but not promise as I often forget to take them. Here's one of our baby puppy checking out the chicks, he was absolutely fascinated with them (he was 11 weeks old when this was taken), he didn't want to chase or anything and was easily distracted but went back, sat down and watched them calmly. I will be training him to come into the chook yard with me, eventually off lead.
Thor comes into all the pens with me every day. He never gives the chickens a look unless a couple of roos are having a tiff, then he will bark to tell them off. He's an akita/bull mastiff and 52kg. Pic of thor and miracle asleep together the other day.

I am sure you will be fine and I am sure they would not care that you had not cleaned you poop board for 3 days. Sometimes people having nothing better to do than try to cause trouble.

Must not be all. BB my little Belgian rooster will strut his stuff for any size chicken. Miracle my isa brown screams and runs for cover if she sees him coming. He is the proudest little guy you will ever see.
