Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Sam I have hundreds of flowers but no fruit. I think mine is a Nellie Kelly.

1000

Mine is too and it took three years to fruit but happy to have them. One is enough though

From Steampunked.

Maybe mine are moulting then, hmm.

Going to attempt to make them feel awful to make them do their jobs: Chicken Shaming.

......

The pix of your chickens - all with your hilarious descriptions of their antics, made my day .......

Especially loved the rooster that cuddles everything !! ??

Fancy - the video of magpie and pup, was really amazing. White backed magpies are mainly found in the southern states, so guess it was taken somewhere down here.

Figure that magpie has been around that home since it was a chick - and has imprinted on everything - including the clothesline. !!

Had a family of 3 magpies for approx. 24 years here, the male Bungwing ( had a floppy wing but flew magnificently ) his wife, and his first offspring - a barren daughter. They came to my whistle, sang and warbled on command ... 'played' with my hair, but never once attacked me - or any of our visitors. Walkers along the street was a different matter. Not sure they'd have gone for playing with our pups over the years though. They live until 25 or a bit longer, so as time drew on, I became increasingly nervous about when I would NOT be able to call up Bungwing. The awful day came - and I never saw him again. His wife lasted a couple of years longer with no mate, the daughter disappeared - and finally they were all gone. Now there is a young beautiful looking male with one wife - taken up residence. I often wonder if it is one of the offspring from later years, that has returned to his 'home' ground, as he is not at all nervous of me. Wanders around softly warbling, just like Bung did ( before he - Bung - got his beak into my shopping bags ).

Anyway, both those videos were brilliant - thank you.

Nope here for Garden city too, even though I have a brother in law that lives close to it.

Those passionfruit look lovely Sam, but I can't understand why they don't wrinkle up.  Perhaps its a different variety, but we called them granadillas and knew when they were ripe because they got all wrinkly.  I had a passionfruit vine here that got removed due to taking over the pool fence constantly.  It's fruit was delicious but no matter how long I waited, none of them wrinkled up.  :idunno

Very full of pulp not too tangy or sweet. I use them for topping or cupcakes

My boys won't eat th unless I cook cakes with them.

As for wrinkles...

only when they are old and not as nice to eat

But it's the shear size that gets me!

Wow! That is beautiful Fancy!

So, rather than my usual random ramblings, I need some advice/input please?

LuLu (Frizzle) is 15 months old and has never been broody in the past. If you remember, I mentioned that on Tuesday this week, I found her in the nest box sitting on an egg she laid. I took the egg away and sent her out for a free range and after 20 minutes of toc-toccing around the garden she went back to the nest box. I diagnosed 'broody' and locked down the nest box.

Since then, while not sitting on the nest box, she is wandering around toc-toccing constantly! She spent the majority of yesterday, under the coop, next to the wire which separates the bubs from the main flock, toc-toccing away.

Today, she is alternating between the above and walking around the run toc-toccing.

She is eating, she is drinking, her comb is a nice colour, her poops look good ("look good" is probably not the best term of phrase when describing poop!) besides the new 'behaviour' she appears to be fine.

Is it possible she has gone from broody to 'those are my babies' in 2 days?
Has anyone seen this behaviour in a broody before?
Is it possible that she is not broody and I am missing something?

I would defer to Fancy or Ash

But being new to broodiness could taking her egg made he think it hatched and she is calling for a chick?

I had my lorp do that when she failed to hatch her eggs she broke them I bought day olds and gave them to her at night.

It wasn't one day however....

I would think she is a little confused and thinks she has had babies but can't find them. Frizzles do make the best mums.

I had a speckled sussex years ago who wasn't all that broody but would happily lie in wait for others to hatch and then steal some young ones for herself. Guess the whole sitting on eggs thing was not for her but she sure loved having babies to take care of.
