Hay does anyone know of any breeds that you can get in Aus that are extremely colourful? Like I don't just mean laced birds or bright colours. I mean each chicken of the breed is fairly individually coloured. An example would be this Icelandic chicken below, but they are not in Australia. Or should I just cross some of my birds and see what comes up?
i have a red ancona that looks similar to that one in colour but different pattern i also have a few gold spangled hamburgs they are pretty. I also find that birds without proper lacing from laced stock tend to be pretty. Your best bet is having a few colours and patterns together and seeing what you come up with. As long as you are fine with crosses that is :)

. How about frizzle bantams, they come in pretty colours.

@tandykins Great to hear Bumblebee is home safe and Ophelia is recovering well!
It sounds more like a cat attack than a fox, though. The tears across Ophelia's back, the survivors, and Bumblebee being dragged away seems more like a cat thing than the chaos and widespread death caused by a fox...just a thought...

or hawk now you say tears across the back

yes our frizzles all from the same hatch were all different colours too. Their mix included some partridge colouring so maybe that's a place to start investigating for different colours from mixed birds even if you don't want frizzles.

Woke up yesterday morning to new arrivals. Bel had given birth sometime in the early hours of the morning. She had twins but unfortunately the little boy had passed away but she is still the proud mumma to Sunday.:love :love

Oh sorry about the little male passing away @satay . But the little girl sure is cute!!

Today is day 5 of incubation. Whoopi is by far the most protective broody I've had - she will not hesitate to give me a
good old pecking if I come too close. It's going to make candling on day 7 interesting.
I also have Squeak on eggs as well, set them under her on Saturday morning.

So hopefully I'll have babies soon

Thanks K and for anyone that wondered they do have green grass to eat. The pic was taken in their night pen , thankfully she gave birth there.
What eggs did you put under your broody K?

Eggs under Whoopi are hers crossed with Casanova (bantam pencilled rock). She's only sitting on 4 because she's so tiny.
Squeak is on 2 aras, 1 silkie and 2 sizzle eggs I got from a friend of mine
