So all 5 eggs that were under Whoopi have hatched! We have 4 dark bubbas and 1 light, so very easy to distinguish that one in Whoopi's black silks. The others just blend into her, their camo level is high

@Teila your girls are just beautiful

Thank you for your kind words regarding my beautiful little gals. I shared one of the pics with my Sister and she said “KiKi looks like a beautiful flower” .. she does kind of

Howdy lowey; welcome to BYC and also to this thread; what do you have in your flock?

Woo hoo Sam, congrats on the increased egg numbers. As I type Cilla aka Nike [Just Do It!] is announcing to all and sundry “gunna lay an egg; gunna lay an egg” so I know we are getting at least one today

Hope I can get some better ones tonight. My little crossbreeds are sooo tiny!!

There was nearly a disaster at my place on Saturday, I'm still reeling from it a bit actually.

I let the pooches out to the toilet when I got out of bed on Saturday, I headed out into the yard as well to check on the babies. To my horror, I saw my Marans just pecking around OUTSIDE the run! My heart was in my mouth as I scanned the yard to see were Domino was; he saw her, Marans saw dog, Domino locked eyes on her and the chase was on.
He ran after her and grabbed her in his mouth, all the while I was screaming and yelling at him to drop her. Luckily I wasn't too far away from the chaos so got to Domino in less than 2 seconds. I wrestled him to the ground and got him to drop the Marans, after which she ran away and hid in the bushes.
I quickly threw him into Lou's paddock with the 2 other dogs who weren't involved (thank goodness) and went to survey the damage. I was thinking for sure she was a goner from what happened to Snitzel earlier this year

. I flushed her out of some long grass and was pleased she was at least mobile and didn't have any visible open wounds or blood.
I herded her back into the coop/run and catch her to assess her wounds; thank heavens I only found one small puncture just behind her thigh that I quickly cleaned and sprayed with Terramycin.
After cleaning her up I scouted the perimeter of the fencing and found they had dug away at the fenceline a small gap under the wire where she was able to duck under and follow the fence into Lou's paddock. I've had to put up a temporary barricade there for now until I can get something more permanent.

So little Miss Marans is one lucky girl; missing some feathers and a small wound is the best outcome I could have hoped for from a dog attack.
