Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I've worked hard to befriend my crow flock. They used to live here only half the year now one family stay all year. I have a wide variety of murder birds that they protect my flock from. I wish mine were that tame. The youngest comes and caws for his eggs from the back fence. If I'm running late, he tries sneaking into the shed for an egg raid. If I bust him, "no rook! You take the eggs I PICK for you!" If I go a few days without 'paying my protection money' they wreck up the place.

So, yes. Befriend them. Choose a feeding place, choose a feeding time and train them. Since you started out with agression and you are now providing them entertainment, (they are really, really, freaky smart I dare you to google some of it I think its on cracked) you may already be screwed, but its all you've got!

Your crows must be much friendlier than ours. I've seen them pull a Sussex chick through the wire of an A frame coop. I definately wouldn't encourage them.

I don't get crows here. (Baffle Creek/1770). Mainly maggies and butcher birds. Quite a few kookaburras. My roosters take care of them, and my dog protects the yard.

Do any of you have problems with snakes?

Yes, they will do that. My outdoor nursery pen has a roof and lots of bolt holes. The crows go all around it, even jumping on the roof, but I make sure my little ones have plenty of space to hide. The crows soon give up, since they are well fed, its only play. They seem to understand our symbiotic relationship quite well, they see how I take care of what's mine and they are happy to be part of it.
I think they also know, I adore them, and I'm just waiting for a baby to fall out of a nest.
They are opportunistic killers, but they do so much to protect us from harriers and eagles, I'm always grateful of their bossy presence

You obviously have a greater respect them than I do. They raid the wood ducks nests and I have even seen the sea eagles in hot pursuit of them after the sods have raided their nest. When we crossed the nullabor the only time you saw a crow was when there was ' road kill ' . I have since referred to them as ' birds of death ' grim reapers.

They have been referred to as such since te beginning of time. Also messengers from the other world. I'll post some pics of them playing with my children's ball, or helping pull winter coat out of my old mare. Gimme a crow over a channel billed cuckoo any day

We have a pip!!! I was naughty and did a quick candle without moving them while I adjusted the humidity. all three have internally pipped, just the one external. Right on time :)

We have a lice problem. It is 10.30pm and I can't get into town until next week. I ran out of Pestene yesterday. I have this spray for ornamental birds, and it does say "Not for birds intended for human consumption" but our chooks are layers, not meat birds.

Should I use it, or just wait until I can get more Pestene or similar?
