Wondering though, if the black one is a girl?
Any opinions welcomed :D

Great hatch! Ashburnham

Tee hee locknest4 yep, I do believe Bazza is pretty happy with his lot in life .. not so sure the goldfish feel the same way ;)

Glad to read that the worse may be over RodneyRooster.  Tee hee, sounds like your gal was just having a spa day .. you know how they reckon mud is good for the complexion .. the boys probably left her cos they were worried she was going to ask them “So, how do I look?” :lau

Really?  Did I read that right?  You are going to call your chick ‘Teila’?  [Or were you asking me what I thought the name was?]

If I read it right .. I have to ask .. does she talk a lot, is slightly quirky and a bit of a clown? lol .. that might be why it fits ;)   Or has she been giving the Crows a hard time? :lau

I love it!

Lol ur probably right, thats why they left, they know not to lie to a woman and knew if they told her the truth theyd be sleeping outside.

Yep u read right, i'm calling her Teila :) better be a girl! Lol. :lau no she doesnt talk a lot and has never met a crow but I'm sure if I told her about ur posts she would dislike them instantly. We mostly just get wattle birds, kookaburras and mapies here. She is just so beautiful and I think feel so happy watching her as I do reading ur posts :) well just got home from netball so better shut them in

Good morning Friends

Bazza didn’t turn up for training this morning! He was apparently a little on the hot side yesterday afternoon, before the rain/storms, seeking refuge in the pond but he was a no show this morning … either he has great metabolism and has already burnt off those love handles; 04:50am on a Friday morning is just too early for him, he couldn’t find his togs or, even after all my advice, he overdid it yesterday .. tut

Hey locknest4, as you know, any guesses I make with regards gender are just that, guesses. I looked at the black one for a while .. sometimes I thought rooster due to comb, wattles, colouring and feathering and then other times I thought large combed pullet due to stance, legs and expression … definitely sitting on the fence on this one and not taking a guess either way

Beautiful gals!

RodneyRooster I recommend a Google Image search of ‘Teila’, apparently it is not only a girls name

For those keeping count, Cilla has laid two eggs since being broken from broodiness.

Poor Cilla, she can’t win .. when she is broody she is dubbed GodCilla and when she is not broody ‘Nike’ [Just Do It!]. When she is broody I forget what a fuss she makes about laying an egg. She runs around for anywhere from 30mins to a couple of hours “gunna lay an egg, she’s in MY nest box, gunna lay an egg, she’s in MY nest box, gunna lay an egg, she’s in MY nest box” to which she gets replies from myself and hubby “Gees Cilla, Just Do It!” .. silence while she does the deed ... “I laid an egg, I laid an egg, I laid an egg”.

KiKi is still semi broody, hopping on the nest when she can but not overly perturbed if she can’t .. hopefully, weather permitting, I may be able to snap her out of it completely this weekend.

Hey there fellow Aussies! Well... I'm not an Aussie, I'm American, but I'm living in Melbourne (Campbellfield, specifically). I was hoping you all might be able to point me toward someone on here that sells good chickens. I just had a loss from a chicken I bought two days ago.... can't believe it, poor thing. She had sour crop, which took me a few hours to figure out because I'm so new at this. I'm hoping I can find some more honest people to buy from.

Hiya, sorry for your loss. Many people are selling chicks at this time of year but here's a link that you may find some pullets. :)

I love the story of Bazza. :D The rain was so welcome last night with a total for us of 57mm I am doing the happy dance today.. Well I was til I had to go clean quail cages as the water all ran in there. Quail poop and water is not a smell you want to wake up to first thing in the morning.
