Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

AB Tks, I love the sound of the currawongs and in the city they seem to echo a bit like in the mountains. I wondered if the White feathers On the crow are from an old injury or something, but who knows.

Teila I think my crows gave headed to your place because all but Mum, dad and Baby crow have been gone since I said I'd take a photo. Elusive as chickens when the camera comes out.

Satay good luck with broodies - bring on more blue girls.

The little chick has spunk. I reintroduced her to mum last night - well not really, I just shoved her under and watched for half an hour. Mum started pecking, but not hard. When it got scary I pulled her out. I paused and thought I had to try again. I put her close again and she tried to get under so got pecked again. So she pecked back. They had a little dual and as Mum was obviously not pecking too hard I let them go. I put a little fresh grain and chick starter out about six inches in front of the nest box. So they both had something to eat. They spent the night together but on waking Mum still wasn't sure. But the gutsy little chick doesn't seem to let that worry her, she barges in. By the time I left for work Mum had finally started the "I'm a Mum" cluck sound. Music to my ears.

Cheers

Think it's going to be a long summer. Only 36 at the moment but I've had to bring Carl in because she she wasn't looking real good. They are all mouth breathing but her the most and she seemed to have starring eyes too if that makes sense and a bit wobbly and I was misting and instead of avoiding it like normal she was actually following it round. So I've brought her into the laundry where it's much cooler and she is looking a lot better.

If this is her in 36 heat though gawd help us when summer hits. I don't think she's ever quite got back to 100% normal after being sick that time.

Poor bugger, heat stress is awful. Some electrolyte s wouldn't go astray.
We had lovely drenching rIn last night, my garden is looking very pleased with itself today.
Just finished pushing the goats down the back , as they keep breaking in to the hay paddock. Most people are saying that they are only getting half the yeild off their hay paddocks this season. This weekend we are making a ' foaling ' yard in anticipation of our baby.

Wish i was both of my pekins have gone broody now. My poor rooster is running around confused during the day as they are both sitting and he is not sure what to do with out them. Miss oz is still sitting in the garden. I take her back a few times a day and she beats me back to the garden each time. She has got to have been sitting on nothing for about 8 weeks or so now i think. Still quite a few broodies in the main pen and my blue marans is still trying her best to sit on something in her pen.

Last time all my hens went broody, the rooster did too, he stayed in each nest box for a few hours then moved to the next one.

My rooster seems to want chicks all the time. If there are no young ones around he'll spend a lot of time trying to convince the hens to go back to stay with the eggs, even taking food to the nests.

Things that make you go hmmm. I had Carl inside for about 3 - 3 1/2 hours and she didn't poop once. Does that seem a bit odd? I have been wondering lately if she is 100%
