LuLu is not well.

When I checked on them last night, after being on the roost, she was sitting on the coop floor. I thought she probably fell off during the shuffling for position, squabbling etc and I popped her back up. She wriggled and protested with great gusto, she does not like being picked up. With hindsight she may have lost her balance.

This morning she is occasionally shaking/jerking her head and has lost her balance a couple of times. She does not appear to have pooped overnight. Comb colour is good. No nasal discharge, no coughing or sneezing, eyes look OK but she is a little lethargic.

I have done the research and it could be anything from Vitamin deficiency to Mareks and I have no idea where to start and what to give her?

Edited to Add: She is now mooching around in the garden under hubby's watchful eye .. she has eaten a couple of meal worms and is pecking at the ground and if I had not seen the symptoms earlier this morning, looks normal.

Edited again: She just rolled her head and sat back on her hunches after pecking at dirt.

I have a roo displaying the exact same symptoms, I think he fell and the ladder hit him in the head. But just to be safe , I start with some Vegemite in hot water with the bread dropped in it, then I'll add the vitamins to everyone's water. Must admit mareks is always at the back of my mind.
This is also the roo that was scalped and nearly died after a spa with a mutt roo. At the time his brain was exposed and I didn't give him much of a chance, but he is my little ' buddy ' so he was worth the effort.

Just a teaspoon in 1/4 of a cup of boiling water, to dissolve let the bread absorb it up and then just hand feed it to her. Good luck . don't know what the weather is doing there, but it's always important to keep a sick bird warm.

I agree with Fancy i would start that way too. Fingers crossed for her.

The symptoms are very vague and as you say could be one of many things, but I wouldn't rule out salmonella either. Think back to the gecko .

Lol, mine must be ' true Aussies '. Try butter in a piece of bread and then put a thin coat of Vegemite on.

Other foods high in thiamine B1 are tuna, mackerel , pumpkin, green peas and whole meal bread. Sounds like your girls are going to have a feast.
