Miss Frizz has finally decide today to try free ranging with the turkeys. This pic was taken before i let them out this morning. (hanging with her boys )

Miss Frizz must feel quite safe with her bodyguards close by.

Your hen could be nesting in the bushes, in the past I've assumed certain death only to have them March out from behind the hay with 14 chicks.
I would be trapping that feral cat.

The Dorathy SLW is In no condition for sitting. She has been grey combed and weightless since the illness struck the flock. Sitting is the first thing I think when a girl goes missing but I wouldn't have thought she'd be sitting in this condition. Definitely hasn't been laying for months.

Thanks, I agree. I'm ringing the council. They have have a cat trapping program. I don't think I'd be allowed to trap it myself.

The vet found a growth in my cats mouth on the bone/tooth which needs to be removed. $650 to $850 to remove.

What age would you recommend chicks be introduced to older hens and pullets?

My silkies and the Belgian are 9 weeks old now, and outside.

They are still separate to the older three chickens though. And look too little to me atm to introduce.

Thoughts?

I've introduced my babies at about 8 weeks and then 5 weeks and the others ignored them totally. I've introduced some older ones and they got pecked because they saw them as chickens not babies. I'd try and see under close supervision. (watch like a hawk though)

Installed my hensafe automatic door on Sunday. Worked great till this morning when it didn't open and won't open even using the manual instead of automatic settings.

Just lucky it died closed not open! Will be interesting what customer service says. So much for peace of mind when we go away overnight in a few weeks.

Why hello chicken peeps. Been a while since I've been on here. Much has happened. I have been further developing my cuckoobaraucanas and i have some really nice chicks growing out right now. Am hatching some birchens out of some really nice black firls ive recently aquired very soon. Ive also just got my greesy chicken math hands on some really nice dark laying marans. I finally have some girls to pair up with my pretty rooster. The fold laced wyandottes are doing well and have just started to lay. One of them is laying a gorgeous pink egg with white speckles. But i have sold all bar 4 of my adult araucanas to make room for growing out babies so im down to 4 aras 3 wyandottes and 4 marans for breeders this season. A much more managable number i think. How is everyone elses birdies going?

Love the colour on those eggs Deej!!
I have a coronation in my flock too Choocklady. She is older than in the photo. A great layer. Your spring grass looks amazing. I am from Tassie. Moved to Melbourne many years ago, but still love the island.
Oh no appps! That is not good. Good luck with fixing it!!
