Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

She is only a bantam and a little thing so although excellent thinking I don't think it is that.

I did give her some TLC and a bath this morning thinking if it is egg related that might help also.

She is eating and drinking at the moment so that's a positive

That's what I get for presuming something. Didn't even consider your little girl might be a bantam Favorolles.

Yes, you are right - most likely nothing to do with weight bearing. Hope she improves soon. Good that she is eating etc. - and very probably your TLC helped a lot too.

Others here would be far better to advise as to what to give her to help, than I would.

Chookies sure can be a weird lot to fathom !!

Three Belgians and a fat Faverolles.

The difference in the size of those chickens is quite amazing. Standard favorolles seem to be very big ( as I mentioned elsewhere to SilkieChickStar, but hers is a bantam Favarolles ). And this Favorolles in the photograph, seems heaps bigger than the other 3 black girls.

And that's about all I know about them ( except that they are beautiful chookies ).

I would have to ask - are your Belgians only bantam sized ? .... and do Belgians D'Uccles ever come in standard size ? .... or are they bred only as bantams ? I cannot get much help from Googling, and would really like to know.

Cheers .........

As far as I know Belgians only come in bantam size, and even for bantams they are pretty little. Beatiful though and great personalities

One of ours is a D'uccle

And here is Charlotte the Faverolles last week when she was much perkier

And next to our Pekin for size comparison

I have looked up my 'chook book' ... and can only see that the Pekin might be the one on the left of your bantam Favorolles. .... is that correct ?

Charlotte seems bigger than your Pekin in this photograph ( if I have read the photo correctly. ). But - there is not a lot of difference, except that Charlotte is 'bulkier' ???.

I get super confused over bantam vs standard sized chickens, unless I can see them in a run. Other than that I have to take for granted that chooks shown here in pix, are what they are ... and there's no doubt in my mind whatsoever, about that.

Endlessly fascinating is the chookie raising business.

Aww ,,,, that is sooo sad.   He is a beautiful looking roo.

Is it possible to give him just one girlfriend ?  .... see how he fares with her - only one to try his attentions on ?

Just a thought.

Cheers .....

Yes of course! He has three girlfriends, but, as they are bantams they don't have the same "allure" of the full sized breeds he is obsessed with. He is quite focussed in his attentions. He only ever manages to mount the unfortunate birds neck. He then gets a swift kick.

The D'Uccles are a true bantam breed, no standard type. The Faverolles are even bigger than they seem in the photo! Bigger than my Light Sussex! They peck very hard but are of a gentle nature. The small and large breeds seem to get in very well in my experience. Given space of course!

Your birds are beautiful. I love the silver colour on Charlotte.

Yes the buff sort of coloured one is my Pekin, Pekin are a true bantam (no large version).

The lavender chook there is my bantam Araucana

Thanks, she is definitely one of a kind. I am in love with the Faverolles gentle souls. She was part of someones silver laced faverolles project but they decided to not continue. I have a few cast offs that aren't good enough for showing but I'm happy to have them as pets :)
