If you do not have any luck finding a Vet to do the necropsy, it might be an idea to contact your local University. They may be able to do one for you and if not, point you in the direction of someone who can.

Anniebee we used to be required to register our cats but the Council changed that. I do like your Shire’s rules; cat curfew, infringement etc.

Yeah, I could trap the cats and call Council but I feel bad doing that, it is not the cat’s fault and what if they are not collected by their owner?

If it gets worse, I am contemplating an educational letter drop around the neighbourhood. Something nice and friendly but pointing out how their cats could be affecting others.

Yes, we have corellas here!!! They fly around our suburbs and turn whole trees white when they are eating in them. They make a right racket, too. But I like them. Our neighbours have a bird feeding thingo and they get sooooooooo many rosellas and other parrots and things, no joke, seriously so many. But, they don't like the corellas. So, (not to dob anyone in or anything) they throw things at them. (like, sling-shorted balls) One day I told them to scare them to our house. Because I like them. Hopefully the chooks don't mind! Oh, that reminds me of a funny chook story...lemme post that next.

That is kind of strange, as we don't have corellas here in Upwey. Have never seen one. All our cockatoos ( of which the corella is a sub-genus so I have learned from Google ! ) .... are the sulphur crested cockies, or their young who are only beginning to grow their crests and make lots of noise. Not a speck of red or other colours on them, such as the corellas have..

We also have black cockatoos here - they have a very different sound.

It is against the law to aim any kind of object that might hurt any bird or animal, especially from a sling. Slings are a weapon. Guess if it is scrunched up paper, no damage would be done, but some use old golf balls etc. which could hurt badly - any animal or bird it hit. I do NOT like that kind of person.

So shutting the laundry door wasn't enough to deter Ada



Unfortunately for her the cat-flap is too small for her robust frame to fit through (the peg is because our cat didn't like pushing the flap open herself). She startled me though, silly chook! They're all convinced that doors a magical gateway to tasty treat land or something though.

When we lived in New South Wales, we had some goats, a few silkies, a couple of muscovy ducks and their vicious drake as well as three indian runner ducks (3 eggs every day - wonderful) but when we were away foxes got in and killed the three ducks. The rest were okay - no fox lights available back in those days, I don't think. It must be a great worry for you. There are apparently a lot of dingoes in our area. I have seen the occasional one crossing the road as we've driven into town. A family lives on the next property but we've only ever seen one animal on its own walking up the dirt road behind our house - it's council land to their water tanks - and it looked to be eyeing off our toy poodle. But in the seventeen years we've owned the property, we've had no problems. Good luck.

So far not much more than a bit of rain. I've been out this morning and freshened up the coops just in case I have to lock everyone up.

Thanks Satay. Another day of gale force winds here. The birds are having another day locked in their pen, it's too wild for them to be out. We are expecting the front to keep coming through with rain and possibly snow tonight. It's so bad the peacock even slept on his roost is the carport last night. You know it's bad when a peacock sleeps under cover!!
