Good morning folks

I do not cope well on anything less than 8 hours sleep. My disposition decreases on a sliding scale commensurate to loss of hours. So, after an extremely busy work day yesterday with two major outage/disruptions at the same time, followed by only 4 hours sleep, my disposition was not good when I walked out to feed the gals this morning.

After last night’s rain, all the plants in the garden were shining, the birds were singing and the gals were happy dancing cos breakfast was on its way.

I took a walk around the garden and noted the Pepper Tree has replaced a heap of the leaves it lost over winter; Arnie and Danny Avocado both have beautiful green shoots; the capsicum plants have also started replacing leaves and Ming the Mandarin is flowering as are the Habinaro’s, red and green peppers and eggplant. Everywhere I looked spring was evident, including the goldfish who were very frisky for first thing in the morning.

Right about now, you are probably thinking this is where I say this was the moment I realised it was going to be a beautiful day. Wrong! It was when I took that first sip of my first coffee after going back inside and telling the world not to be so freaking cheerful first thing in the morning

I have tied both methods with my aussies to try to keep them out of the banana garden. Neither has worked. I am still not sure how such weighty ladies manage to hike it up over the fence into there but they sure are determined.

Yes I've tried both , with limited success. Never had any accidents with one wing trimmed though.

Really, Two doses that's silly.

8.48g/l
For large round worm, caecal worm and hair worm. Specifically for food producing birds.

I had wondered that for good measure but also thought I don't want to give her anything unnecessary just for the sake of it.

We have had rain here on and off the last few weeks and that can cause worming problems.

Although many don't say it on the package to worm properly you need to give a follow up dose 14 days later for any product or species.
This is even true for the once only human products if you read the research data on them.

I don't understand this at all. If you have to repeat you have to buy more product. Why on earth would they, from a commercial point if nothing else, not tell you to repeat when you need to. Add to that people would think their product didn't work and not buy again if one dose wasn't enough. It just makes no sense to me that they leave that off the directions.

That is correct with most wormers, only the advice is usually 7-10 for the repeat dose.

It really is a waste of time doing a ' one off ' treatment , because most enthelmetics will only kill mature parasites, the follow up dose is given to eliminate any hatching in the birds system afterwards. The most common parasite is roundworm so with your levamisole product you can give the lower strength dose to start with and then follow up with the stronger dose. By doing this , if there is a burden of roundworm you are less likely to clog the birds system by killing everything at once. The alternative is to have 2 x products , piperazine for the first treatment , then follow up with your levamisole product.

This will hopefully give you a Sunday morning chuckle ……

SilkieChickStar I hope your hay fever settles. Nice egg selection!

Because lots of rain was forecast for today, my plans for yesterday were to get as much done as possible in the garden and coop and then inside stuff today. Sadly, that did not happen and I spent the majority of yesterday in the Coronary Care Unit with possible angina which I gotta say, sucked big time and frightened the beejesus outta me! Anyways, home now but booked in for a CT angiogram on Monday. They have some good drugs in hospital!

The good news is that other possible diagnoses are anxiety [really stressful week at work] or hormones but they have to rule out heart first.

Fingers crossed that the rain eases off and I at least get chance to do the weekly coop clean this afternoon. Hubby was really good and made sure the girls got to bed OK last night, fed the cats, bought the washing in etc.

Teila .... yep - the ghost gives a good giggle. Tku.

I so hope the CT angiogram shows nothing in the way of angina. Stress can play havoc with health, and as for hormones !! ... boy can they mess with everything - ( as we all know ) ... please take it easy, if you can.

I also have a coop clean to do - ( overdue because of rain ) ... and as it is rather a quagmire out there, have to be careful I don't slip while doing all that. Then again, if I just remove the top layer of woopsies, refresh the bedding etc., I will then wait for a better day. Due to chip away at the deep litter and bag all of that, which is a big job - even on a nice sunny dry day.

Take care and best of good wishes for tomorrow.

Cheers ....
