Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

My cats were desexed before 3 months of age. They are farm cats and sisters, but they are generally in at night because there are feral cats hanging around. One of whom has only just escaped by the ' skin of his teeth ' from my dogs. It's funny how my dogs know their cats and will not tolerate any other. They have bells around their necks and there are times (when I find a dead robin ) that I swear I'll never get another, but I know that's not true. I buried my Sox 4 years ago in the garden and I still say good morning to her lovely weeping birch as I pass. Find myself not getting as attached to the newbies.
It's that time of the year again, mr goshawk has killed 3 x of my birds this week . All the youngsters so desperately want out but I can't afford to lose anymore.
I can't keep up to the fertile egg orders ATM and hope to set some gold laced Wyandotte and blue Orpingtons this weekend.

Nice. Are the orpingtons from your stock or brought in?

Good morning folks

Well, I did not win the Business Support Person of the Year award but I am still chuffed to have been nominated. There was some stiff competition and the winner was definitely deserving. Popped the nomination certificate on my office wall next to the 15 years of service [now 16].

sjturner79 loving all the pics of your bubbies. I am sorry to read that the little one did not make it

Fancy I am sorry also to read about your losses to Mr Goshawk

When my Charlie-Bear passed away I had her cremated; I still natter away to her when I pass her urn

which has her collar around it. I still have her toys in the shed and her bowls in my pet cupboard; I can not bring myself to part with them.

Anniebee that is a beautiful story about Oscar and while I have heard it before, I do not think I will tire of reading it again. A special and very beautiful cat.

Cheep82 how cool, working in a lab and getting DNA gender tests done

No big plans for today; I have to head over to the feed store and buy some tucker for the gals and also on the agenda is a pumpkin for Hubby to carve. His being American means that we do partake in the Halloween festivities and even if he was not, I still would. While we do not get a heap of trick or treaters in our area, the ones that we do are adorable and the few dollars spent on treats is worth it to see them having fun and their smiles. Must remember to get some batteries for the remote controlled Black Widow Spider we have

Sorry you didn't win but congrats on being nominated. That in itself is a great recognition.

I've got some cockerels I need gone!
From my show birds. All from the same father who I bought off of John Graveur. Mothers, older brothers and sisters have been in local shows and placed mostly 1st and 2nd. Hatched on the 23 September. I would like for them to go to another breeder to possibly be shown later on.

- 2 Light Sussex bantam cockerels $15
- Leghorn X Plymouth Rock standard cockerel $5. Would make a nice pet!!

Private message me if your interested! PRICES NOT FIXED.
Berry, NSW area.

im the only one anywhere near you I'm afraid and I've already had to Rehome a rooster due to complaining neighbours. Have you tried the shoalhaven poultry facebook page?

Satay ... Agree with Teila - such a sad story of how you came to get Ty. .... Sounds like it was a kitten farm. Horrid situation, but so glad that one little one was rescued. Same for Teila and Chimee .... Got to be so very careful when one obtains a pet these days. Ty, now older, sounds like one heilluva big cat in his younger years, to have taken on and won the wars he was involved with. Amazing stories of his attacks, especially against a fox - it is usually very much the other way around. Fox takes cat. Agree about the differences - country cat or city cat. But even in the country, I would probably not let a cat roam at night especially - out of consideration for the wild-life. They are natural hunters, but when well fed - that hunting instinct is quelled, somewhat. I dare not try to go back now to previous posts with my 'just hangin' together' computer, so cannot name or reply any further than this. Can say my cats when I had them ( 7 at one stage ) - were largely indoor cats, but did go outside with me into the garden every day ( weather permitting ). ............ A true story to warm the heart, while here, and while I remember to tell it ;) .... Had 4 cats at this stage, outside in the back garden with me. Juvenile black bird - just out of the nest - hopping around, pretty helpless - wouldn't have let cats out if I had known. Parents went berserk dive bombing my two Burmese - who were kept very busy trying to leap up and catch them. That left my two little moggies Oscar and Felix. Felix ran and hid from the uproar - Oscar picked up the baby bird and I called him over to me ( not thinking for one moment he would obey ). He toddled over ( and I swear on my life this is true ) ... I held out my hand, and said "Give it" ... AND HE DID. Ever so gently placed that little bird in my hand - which I closed softly around the bub entirely. Took it through the house, and out the front so its' parents could attend to it. .... It was not hurt in any way. AND it didn't seem to be in any kind of shock - as the parents fussed over it and it toddled off, trying to use its wings while I watched for a good 15 minutes. I think it was probably too young to have much of a reaction about it all. Besides which Oscar was so gentle with it. ? I was astonished at his reaction - and very very proud of him. ( I have an odd thought I have told this story here before ? :idunno ) Anyway, here is an image I made in a graphics programme of Oscar, after he had non-operative cancer and had been put to sleep. .... Cheers to all ...
Forgot to add that Anni. Ty isn't allowed out at night.

You know i have done that too Teila when I lost our first dog bear at 14 and half (lost bear in 2008) and most recently my Zeus earlier in the year. I have kept both their bowls. I'm not sure why i did but i couldn't part with them either.
