Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi, I have a condition that is inflaming all my joints. It is not arthritis and not lupus or anything bad they say as I have been tested for all that. When I asked if they had tested for limes disease they said they don't test for that. I personally know two people with it so it must be common enough to test for it.

They were just giving me drugs to try to see if that alienated the symptoms instead of looking for the cause.

Anyway - that's another story. So they do not know what I have. I am trying not to take medication but I know when I did I couldn't believe how good it felt to be pain free. I sat in my recliner and thought - I'm not lazy, ( not feeling like housework) I'm just in pain! I had no idea how much pain I was in until I wasn't in it.

Hope they find the problem and your feeling better soon. :hugs

MyHaven .... while I hope you do not have Lymes disease, it can be checked out -

I also hope, that you can be tested at some time for it. If for no other reason than to eliminate it - or deal with it. Specific anti-biotics are administered and some other medications I believe, from my quick research.

Here are a couple of links that might help. It is also an ongoing investigation by science and health authorities, apparently.

http://www.lymedisease.org.au/about-lyme-disease-2/ - there are tabs with further information here.

https://www.niim.com.au/clinic/services/lyme-disease-advanced-pathogen-dna-blood-test --- using the 'search' area top right hand corner, with 'lyme disease' will bring up further links. Noticed though, that it is termed 'lyme-like disease' ... in most text.

There is a doctor in Melbourne ( not much help to you ) who deals specifically with it.

So - - there is a lyme-like disease here - but not from the ticks that cause it overseas. Tennis player Samantha Stosur got it in the U.K. some years back now.

I can empathise with you about that dreadful pain associated with inflammation of joints. And I certainly hope you can find some form of remedy that has you pain free for much of the time, if not permanently.

.....

btw - there is a PM I sent to you a few days back - but was not sure it would ever reach you by notification.

Would be interested to know if it was ever delivered to your PM inbox.

Satay .... nerve pain ( neuralgia type thing ) ... with stabbing pains etc., can be treated with a medication called Lyrica. Prescription med.

Was given that when I first had the gout and toe joint inflammation / swelling - which produced stabbing pains so severe, made me screech with the pain.
They didn't last for more than a few seconds at a time, but were dreadful.

Those 'stabs' have all but disappeared now - maybe get one a day if I am unlucky.

Lyrica is also used as an anti-convulsant. Would be an idea to check the do's and don'ts out on-line, before asking for it ( that's if you are interested in taking it ).

I cannot find your original comment on it all. But noted something said about pins and needles as well.

Just hoping this might be of some help, maybe ... and that by now, much has settled down or is improving.

Cheers ~

Hey Fizzybelle the coop lappers have not driven me crazy [yet]

We had a couple of rats a while ago and I also used a snap trap with peanut butter to catch them. All I did was put the trap out at night outside the run when the girls were locked in and had gone to bed and then removed it in the morning before letting them out. It took a few nights but I got them. Also got a cane toad who survived

LoveInNature welcome to the thread; great to see you here.

MyHaven sorry to hear about your joints, I hope you remain pain free.

Oh yuck, toads, yes there's a few of those too around here, well the things are everywhere. I found a squirt of dettol knocks them over quick. The ones around our old house were so slow and dopey, but here at the new house they're much more alert and faster, harder to catch. God I hate cane toads so much. Love frogs though.

Anniebee, I've been on lyrica too, it's good. Only problem for me though was I built up a tolerance to it and it stopped working, but nerves are tricky like that. Upping the dosage made me feel like a zombie and did nothing. My pain was finally correctly diagnosed as muscular though, and now I have physio exercises to help, so no more need for meds - well that and I got sick of them.

I had Lyrica as well before they finally did spine surgery. They said it was for nerve pain too. It did help.

Fizzybelle I had the same problem I developed allergies to some pain medication and some they had to up the dose.
Pain is a horrible thing. Some people do not realise how debilitating it can be and how tired you are. Unless you've experienced severe pain it's hard to describe it. I feel for everyone who has pain now. Even though its been a few years now I haven't forgotten. I'm glad they found the cause of your pain and a way to help you.

Fizzybelle ... glad to know that a correct diagnosis was made for you. Was warned by my doctor that Lyrica can make one feel sleepy and dopey. ( but then that's me some of the time anyway - so I wouldn't necessarily know, what was affecting what !!

). .... I no longer have to take them, thankfully.

LuckysMum ... Glad to know that Lyrica helped you too ...

Not sure that a lot of people understand how debilitating pain can be ... it is exhausting - and I ( and many others ) cannot sleep with pain as well. Can also be quite depressing, and make one feel ill enough to vomit ( which I felt two nights ago from the throbbing inflammation in the toe and surrounding area - OMG - but did not give in to the need to throw-up ). Eventually fell asleep with night time Mersyndol and Panadeine Forte - ( 1 of each only ) ... and woke up feeling more relieved and better. Until I had walked for an hour or so. Then it was back to the cactus - pain and more pain meds.
Today, though ( hoping I don't jinx myself ) has been 'reasonable'. AND I got a little bit of shopping done.

Am hoping for new answers beginning tomorrow, when I have a CT scan of the foot and ankles to eliminate whatever, - - - and confirm diagnosis of ? whatever. Coming onto Christmas, it ain't too grand a situation. However, I am mindful that there are many others far worse off than I am ... I so feel for those in dire medical straits, especially at this time of the year.

Cheers ....

Hi, I have dusted my girls with Pestene twice 7 days apart. Scrubbed the nesting area and and changed the wood chip in the coop. Sprayed the run with diluted eucalyptus oil. I also dusted the straw in the nesting box. I now notice there skin in so dry its flaking especially around the vent but their combs look dry too. Today I rubbed organic coconut oil on the dry areas. Is there anything else I can do?

As age creeps up on us pain is present in varying degrees. My mum suffers with rheumatoid arthritis and is having some relief from xeljans. My chronic condition was eventually brought under control with a mixture of steroids ( which I'm paying for now ) and chemotherapy. My rheumatologist was the first one to think outside the box as he deals with auto immune disease on a daily basis.
Finding the right doctor is half the battle.

I use the Woolworths brand surface spray it's only $2. It contains permethrin, a synthetic pyrethrum. I would remove the straw as the lice can find refuge in the hollow stems.
