G'day mates.

This is mainly for Australians, but the Americans might also be able to give advice, as many things you guys see on Amazon are also available here.

I'm after an incubator and a heat plate (mother hen type plate with adjustable legs).

Something you or someone you know has reliably used would be appreciated.

Have a wonderful day further,

I know, I'm in the USA but NR360 is a AMAZING incubator. And a brinsea heat plate works great.

Definitely go with the NutureRight360. A very reliable incubator which is usually fairly accurate. Auto turner and a plastic dome which offers great visibility of the eggs in the bator. Also forced air which is a plus. I love mine! You always need to calibrate incubators with an extra thermometer and humidity gauge, but the NR360 is usually pretty accurate anyway. Highly recommend and so will others on BYC.
For a heating plate, Brinsea makes great ones, but Preimer 1 has a budget version. You might find this thread threading. Heating caves are much cheeper than plates, and just as affective if you ask me. A friend is using them for her chicks. They are also a bit more secluded, and I think its easier and cheeper to get a large size to accomdiate larger batches of chicks. Thread 'Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE'

Cheers mates.

A place here in Australia had 3x NR360s left so I ordered one. The brinsea seems difficult to get hold of down here so I just went with an online stores overhead heat plate. Some generic make. As long as it doesn't catch fire it will do the job. Chicks can decide how much heat they need. Eggs hatching needs more exact science.

Cheers for the advice.

I tried giving these old hens a chance to do it on their own, but they're not very good at it. I don't think they've ever done it themselves before. Hopefully I get a higher fertility and success rate if I just use their eggs.

Have an amazing day further,
