Australian Shepherds aka Aussies- Info is appreciated(:

They definitely do vary in temperament. Here is my younger dog, a working lines Aussie...he can be trusted entirely around stock. My older one still goes nuts when he sees the neighbor's ponies, and can do some work in pens, but isn't so great for working in fields.

We have a minature Aussie, "Toby" is the best dog we have ever owned. He is 6 months old and so smart. From day one he was taught not to chase or bother the chickens. He is not hipper at all. I do know some can be very hipper and bark a lot. If I would of known how wonderful Aussies are I would of got one many years ago. Truly smart beautiful dogs! Can't wait to see photos of your new dog!

We had a Blue Merle Aussie named Lilly. Only had her for 4 months then when we were outside just sitting around enjoying the weather she ran up to the front of the house which was usual since her chew toys are usually up there. Sadly to say when I walked up to the front I saw her get ran over by this dumb @$$ going 70 down our road with a cell-phone in his ear! I was very P'od about it! I had no idea why she was on the road maybe because she saw something across the road? Whos knows what she was running after. Needless to say that was very sad to witness and watch. I only have one picture to remember her by and its in a frame hanging up on the wall. If the scanner in the printer worked I would scan it and show you guys! She was a very beautiful dog! Her mom had 2 blue eyes and her dad had 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye. She had brown eyes and so did the rest of her brothers and sisters.

R.I.P. Lilly you were a very good dog! I still miss you like crazy! She was the very first dog I ever bought and took care of all by myself. She went everywhere with me. I don't think I could ever replace her.

We have an Aussie we have had for 11+ years. She was a rescue and was 4 years old when we got her, so she's around 15 years old now. She is the smartest and best dog we have ever had. She is protective of the chickens and actually rescued one of our girls from a hawk this week.

kidcody, Toby is gorgeous! I've always wanted a blue merle. When I get my own I'm planning to get a blue. There's also a color which I think is called splash. I'm not positive, but it's so beautiful. The 2 we have now are a red merle and a tri.
