Christie. How r ur chooks sposed to eat if you don't put food down? Must b a new method I don't know about. All ears!!! Always keen to learn new techniques n delve into the different...

I know I would be!! My neighbour has an incubator and just tonight they have said they will loan it to me... I'm hyper excited just thinking about getting it! Let alone hatch time!!! (might be after some of those eggs you offered soon!)

I always take my girls food in at night too. I thought chooks were sposed to race over n eat mice in the daylight hours? Was kinda hopin mine would do that if a mouse showed up in the run. No food in coop except the bread cubes I throw in at dusk to lure the chooks in so I can lock up. Otherwise, if it's light enough for me to see the little beggars race out of the coop before I get a chance to shut the popdoor between coop n run. They run much faster than I do! Fortunately they're usually running TO me.

Rose,Thunder and Lucky go into the coop by themselves at night now.
My mum was shocked that my 2 roos sleep next to each other cuddling in

My girls went into their roost by themselves as well but I want to shut the popdoor n they all come bursting out again like it's daybreak cos mum means food. If I leave it any later I can't see what I'm doing n I like to run the dogs around the coop n run after they're tucked up in the hope it will deter foxes with the scent of dog around

Nothing different with Lonely. Miss broody is concentrating more though so I'm thinking she might be moving in her egg too.
I just took the opened egg out if the incubator and sanitized the shell and the yolk that was on it. The chick is still alive. As much as I'm kicking myself for this, it is pretty cool seeing inside the egg.
It could be anywhere up to 24 hours before we get a pip.

And we wait.
