Australians - Where are you all????

Hi from Brisbane. Does anyone know where I could get my baby Barnevelders vaccinated. I have nearly given up and this may be my last try. It is so hard for backyarders. They are coming out of their shells under mum as I type.

Morwell, Victoria, here. Only had chickens for a few months, just added two isa browns last week, already had two white ones that are 2 year old and an18 week old (I think) isa chicken. It's taken a week but I think the new ones have finally been accepted, all sleeping peacefully on their perch together :)

Hello everyone!

I am originally from the UK but now living in sunny South Australia!

I started keeping chooks last year - I have Penelope (a high line brown) Dame Nelly Melba (Nell to her friends! - an Australorp cross)
Nell went broody twice within a couple of months of getting her, second time round I bought her some fertile Light Sussex eggs. We now have 4 chicks currently 8 weeks old. We will keep just one of the pullets who we will call Grace. The rest will be available for sale once they a bit older.
I hope to hatch out some Araucanas or Welsummers next time.

I have never had chickens before and am loving it. My hubby calls me chicken woman!
I believe everyone should have a couple in the back garden. Remove the need for battery hens and great pets for the kids!

I am new to the site and also a newbie Cochin bantam mum. I have two little girls Cilla and Whitney. 3 weeks ago I started out with Cilla and Ash who I purchased at a produce store. Sadly, after two weeks Ash got sick and she passed away on Sunday morning. Cilla was stressing by herself so I made a mad dash back to the produce store and bought Whitney. OK, so it wasn't love at first sight, Cilla was giving Whitney a bit of a hard time all day and come bed time, Cilla decided that she now wanted to be friends with Whitney but Whitney was having nothing to do with the 'evil chookie'. After some gentle persuasion I managed to get them to roost together and when I checked on them later, Whitney had her head snuggled under Cilla's wing .. a friend commented that it was probably a headlock lol. I am only guessing they are Cochins by the images on the web, I really have no idea except that they are black with feathers on their feet, Whitney has some brown feathers around her neck. I think Whitney is still only very young as she is squeaking rather than clucking. I have a couple of questions which may sound silly but #1 any ideas of how I can tell how old they are? and #2 Is there a chance that Whitney may lose her brown feathers when she gets older?

PS. I love my little girls they have so much character

Hi cluckcluckluke,
I'm pretty sure I have one boy and 3 girls. Will probably ask around $5 for the roo and $20 for the pullets.

Are you in SA too?

O.K. I love in N.S.W, so wasn't asking to see if i could get them was just curious as I have seen some ridiculously priced Light Sussex recently and wasn't sure what was going on.
Will you sell them at POL?
