Sadly two of them didnt make it out of the egg. One was unzipping and had gotten almost all the way around- but was upside down expired when I woke up this morning.
The other pipped on the bottom of the egg- that was the tiny egg.
Here are some more pics for a better idea of how gorgeous they are.
They are very, very cute, and I'm guessing they are going to be very pampered poultry children! So happy for you and for Courtney! The bouffy tops look sort of velvety when they are this age, that is what I love. Keep us posted!
suburban..Im sure there is a few others from over your side of the country on here as well. Good to have you aboard and hope you find the site friendly and imformative.

Thanks for the Welcome!!!! My family was originally from the Toronto area but myself and my 8 children and hubby are from the West Coast! We lived in the interior of British Columbia. A place called the Okanagan! A truly beautiful part of the country (miss it a little) Hubby is an Aussie and business brought us here!
As far as the chooks are concerned, I only have hens as we live in the city limits and are not allowed roosters. I love my Barnevelders to death. They are beautiful birds and very calm. The Isa's are pretty as well but one of them is a bit of a "B" so we had to separate them. She beats up on everyone all of the time! I would love to get more but I am only allowed 5. I think I have the chicken "bug"
I would love to get (once all the girls are gone) some Easter Eggers. They look like very pretty girls and the thought of having different coloured eggs is very cool indeed
Hey Guys!
I'm from Kyneton in Victoria, just joined the forum as one of my Leg Horns went broodie and a friend had fertilized eggs so we put them under her (then the other Leg Horn went broodie so they are sharing) so now I am completely obsessed! Cant believe how addictive it is! I candled the eggs before and am expecting 4 but maybe 6 although trying to remember what they say about counting your chickens before they hatch. Love this site already. And I'm learning heaps!!! I cant believe i really saw a baby chicken wriggling in its egg
I have 2 Brown Leg Horn hens and 2 Isa Browns. I would love to breed Leg Horns down the track but the eggs they are currently on could be a mix of Spangled Hamburg, Isa's or Wyandottes. They are due on the 24th - early christmas present!!!
Looking forward to learning a whole heap more and one day having a lovely flock of Leg Horns to grace my 7 acre property
I found that I became truly obssessed when I started hatching chickens. It really is something magic, to see a little chicken in the egg is an awesome experience, and I never ,ever, get tired of seeing them pop out of the egg(that is in the incubator). Hope you have lots of happy hatchings - I have a few Spangled hamburgs, they are so decorative. Don't know much about Leghorns, but I've heard good things about them.
Now if I had 7 acres ......
what fun I would have filling it up with chickens!1 I live on 2 acres and that is chock a block with chooks .
