I currently have many different roos because no one has been culled from the original chicks yet and I want to see what they through.

Almost 20wo I have a quad of SG Dorkings, pair of Silver Sussex, pair of Wellies, a Plymouth Rock roo and a RIR Pullet. They are all running together at the moment but the girls are getting ready to lay so I need to break them up into breeding pens. Probably do that next week. I'm hoping to hatch my own eggs for Mahonri's Easter hatch.

I also have 4wo chicks, 3 Pekins, black mottle, blue and birchen? and 3 Silkies, black, white and a HUGE Lavender? I'm sure the one I think might be Lav is a roo, it's almost double the size of it's hatchmates.

I've bookmarked the site so I don't lose it. I've looked at the Sussex club site before. I dearly wanted Specked Sussex as my main breed but simply couldn't find any around here when I was looking for them. Also hunting Araucanas, I love the colored eggs.

Satay, what colour Sussex and Araucanas do you keep?

I have silver,light and buff and red.I call them red not sure if that is actually the right name for that type. They are almost the colour of an RIR but more brownish I guess. I bought them from a breeder out this way that was moving back to Brissy and that is the one type I can't actually remember the proper term for. I used to have one speckled Sussex - speka lived to the ripe old age of 9 and we lost her this year. I was never able to find a male for her so I never got any offspring. Araucanas I have grey and white. I nearly scored some black ones a while back but the woman sold them just before I got there so will have to keep my eye out for black elsewhere.

You should...its not too late...you could jump on the boat tomorrow... lol..I can put you up for a night or two ... On the lounge of course- you would be sharing the room with ten ducklings. But half of them are going to the sale- so you can have some room to store your chiklets inside before going home on Monday...lol.. Keep October in mind Wooklet - we do have two sales each year! and by then I might actually have my spare room back again.

Thank you,I had already thought about hopping on the boat! And that is a lovely offer - I would be honoured to share with your ducklings! However - I DID hear from the breeder finally and he has promised me some good birds, but if he does not come through then I will most definitely be there in October - it seemssuch a long way away though!

I sold a lovely 12 week old Silver laced Wyandotte for $60

I couldnt believe someone would pay that for such a young bird. But she was very nice, all up I sold everything except the pair of Silkies. Didnt find what my daughter was looking for- a white pekin pullet - but thats Ok as I have some details for some breeders. There is a lady who comes to our sales who I bought the Goose from last time - she always has something that I HAVE TO BUY... Anyway- this time it was a gorgeous little crested duckling. She should be a harlequin tpye of colour- but I am absolutely over the moon about her. I got a fellow I know to vent sex it for me- so I am hopeful it is a girl. Seeing it being done was great- I have tried - but was just to scared I might hurt the little ones. I will have more confidence in future.

A few people bought 2 or 3 pens of my ducks. One particular fellow bought a total of 7 adults and babies - and wanted to order more. A lasy has also emailed me today

The sale was fantastic overall. Pity about the weather- but by all reports I heard the sellers had a great day- very few birds left unsold. One lady had a bit of a rant about other buyers there on a thread on an Australian forum- but thats hardly the clubs fault. We provide a great venue , so at least the breeders arent having strangers come onto their properties. I did have a walk around a few times- but only saw one malay- a big boy- but a bit rough looking. i did ask the other members of the club at the end if they saw others- or knew how much they were..it just got way too busy. Sorry wooklet.

Just heard there is snow forecast for down in Tassie tomorrow!! OMG where did summer go???
