ohhh, that was just for a short time, some eggs hadn't hatched and she wanted to look after those chicks
instead of sitting of the last of the eggs. at night i put them back with her and in the morning the rest of
the chicks had hatched. so now i have 7 cute wittle fluff balls.
Oh ok. Sometimes I wonder what the mothers would do/how they react. I've only ever taken the chicks off a hen once. Well twice
I had three broodies each sitting on a few eggs. The first broody's chicks hatched and all was well. Then the second broody ripped out and killed the first chick to pip so the other eggs went under another hen who then sat on them too hard and crushed the second pipped egg. So I took them off broody #3, put them under broody #1 (who sat on them even though all her eggs had hatched) she hatched them, then I put the chicks under broody #3. Everything worked out but in hindsight I should have kept them under #1.
Broody #1 AKA Chicken Josephine has been broody about twenty times since
I'm actually trying to de-broody her at the moment. A few more days and she goes in the naughty cage.
ignore my PM, i so totally missed you, thats all!
