Australians - Where are you all????

Hi Chic a dee -post some photos of your sqishy 5. I am just having to extend my coop as I have 7 adults & now NINE new chicks (5 I incubated plus 4 mum brooded- she then stole mine!! and is a brilliant mum). Altho mine mainly free range, I need the option to lock up all week if required. My current coop is 6m x 4m & I am adding a 6m x 2m extension. I will then have 3 pens I can seperate or merge any 2 or the whole area if required.

Hi everyone, we are in Semaphore, Adelaide South Australia and have just joined BYC. Loving it! Xxx Henny & Bea (we are New Hampshire Reds and just about to start laying eggs in our new home).

Does anyone know at what age a Silkie starts laying eggs? Are Silkies easily stressed? Thanks

I think like other bantams , anywhere between 4 1/2 -6 months. I don't have silkies but my other bantams & large breeds have really varied between these times. It is good to keep them in the coop (no free ranging) once they reach the 4mth age so you ensure first & following eggs are laid where you want them to lay. Hope this helps.
