how funny, thanks a bunch! I emailed you with more info on getting some guineas for you.

Hi! I'm getting keets July 5th, and I was so excited seeing your photos!

I've never had Guineas before but I've read Gardening with Guineas. It's nice to see photos of really young ones. What a good broody hen you have!

Give her an extra treat!

chicks rule..I resent the email a minute ago. let me know if you get it.
wren-I was told that I needed to get gamebird starter with a high protein or |I would lose my keets so I did that today. They are all bouncing around like the chicks did when I first got them. Let me tell you I don't like going into that room that has them as it is too hot for me!

they seem to be thriving in it though. I only use a light bulb as it puts out enough heat.

thank you Ellen.

I love the sound of guineas myself but we live in the middle of 82 acres and no worry about neighbors. If we had close neighbors it would bother me. Can't find a dog that will protect my little dogs and chickens without wanting to eat them!

Plus I don't want to go through training puppies who will chew through everything before they get to chickens!!

So I am hoping the guineas will at least alert us if something is amiss.

Grats on the new chicks!
Very very cute.
Glad everything worked out for you, until your hen shows up again and it becomes a full on invasion

Hey Ozark Hen, I went to Estes today they were supposed to be holding 6 keets for me, but, misunderstood and thought I would be there last Friday, which I wasn't so they sold them. They did search around today and ended up with two, one probably a few days old and another that is older, hope they go okay??? Anyway the lady felt bad because she misunderstood me, so they are going to ship me some, not sure how many that will be, usually you would have to order 30 to have them shipped, but, I only wanted 6, so I will be surprised to see what I get, she said they wouldn't charge me for the extra's, yea!!!!! I may end up with a flock of guinea's yet. Do you think they will do ok with chick starter??? My mom didn't get out of surgery in time for me to pick up any game bird feed, will get some tomorrow. Oh and her surgery went good.

Wow, see everything happens for a reason. I tell my family that all the time.

That is just so cool! And you will have a great little flock.
chick starter will do just fine and I speak from experience|! I was so surprised to see baby guineas under the hen that I didn't have any game bird starter either. I put those eggs under her but wasn't expecting any results. I think it was one or two days before I got the game bird starter but they really do need it as it has a much higher protein, but I am sure you know that already. But starting them out is just fine. Post some pics of them when you get them or the ones you have now. I am really excited for you. Hope your mom's surgery went well?
Let me tell you they are little eating machines. ha Mine are growing like weeds. Oh, I also started them off on sugar water for the first several days.
