Australorp pullets or roos?

Interesting. Assuming you guessed right on all of them, that’s either lucky or you’ve found something that works. Still, I wouldn’t say it’s an 100% sexing method for any bird since it’s only been tested on one batch of chicks.

Though I am a bit confused, since you said there was 16 chicks (5 cockerels and 11 pullets?) but the way you’ve listed the breeds makes it sound like you had several more chicks.
I said at least 16
not counting the silkies

Ah. The way it’s written makes it sound like you had 5+ roosters and 10+ hens, without silkies listed.

Personally, I haven’t noticed a consistent difference between my pullets’ and my cockerels’ tails.
There was about 5 roos including barred cochin, jersey giant, speckled sussex, d'uccles, and barnyard mixes. all the rest were hens including white leghorn, also jersey giant, speckled sussex, d'uccles, barnyard mix, buff orp, ee, brahma, Hamburg, and some more barred cochin. I've also had three silkie roos but i didn't judge that... i was hoping for hens on them.

I am extremely lucky ;) also I have had 2 full batches.
Adding up to 16 chicks (not counting silkies)?
