Australorp roo or pullets?

Another one I’m wondering- does this look like a Delaware? It’s one I posted in another thread much younger. Could just be one of the Rainbow’s that Hoover Hatchery provides. But does look Delaware-ish to me- but I don’t know much about them

Delawares should have single combs, yellow shanks & feet, Columbian pattern (silver with black at the wingtips & tail & hackle), and white barring (only obvious on the black areas.)

Your chicken appears to have those traits.

So either it is a Delaware, or it is some other chicken that happens to have those same traits.

At 6 weeks I would expect rounded feathers in the saddle area on all chicks, no matter what gender they are.

I didn't know that, thanks for the information! Hope 4 is a pullet if they were wanting pullets.

Yes they are! That’s what I was leaning towards, but still on the fence since I’ve seen a lot of others with giant combs at 4 weeks- holding out hope although I’m pretty sure it’s for naught.

And I have australorp 2 more chicks in the brooder. See if luck is on my side with those in a few weeks.

There is nothing to indicate that the birds in question are not Black Australorps at this point.

Those Australorps... They are so tricky!
I think they all might be pullets at 6 weeks the combs should be bright bright red and big. So to me, there's hope

1,2,3 are cockerels, 4 is pullet
At least that's what I think

I got 4 chicks from a local. Supposed to be pure Australorps. They turn exactly 6 weeks tomorrow.

1st: do you think they are Australorps or mixed?

2nd: roo or pullets?

We need a Black Australorp gender guessing support group lol I have shared some pictures on a post of our black Australorp at 5 weeks and 6 weeks, to compare, most of our roos have big combs, but I know some are slower to bloom.

Oh yes, but not only black, all Australorps
After my recent education in this particular area I've changed my mind: now I think 3 boys and 1 girl, sorry
