Australorps breed Thread

If not already completely white on the bottom, the chicks' feet will be pinkish to white on the bottom and turn completely white in a short time.
Here are the bottom of mystery chick's feet

Not sure who the fence jumper was but the egg was mixed in with the Cochin eggs and the same color. The chick has white stripes beside his eyes. I tried to post pics but for se reason I can't. I'll try again later

Whats everyone think of this ? This baby is 1/2 Aussie .
Probably Plymouth white Rock as its mom .
This one that hatched I think is a boy ...Acts like one ..if you go to pick it up it ..it raises up it self .
.it has been white all along ..with a few black spots on its feathers

It gets well feed as you can see . I am just wondering if it might stay white ..
if it did would it be considered a White aussie ?

The 1st one that hatched was a girl probably same parentage

I think it is based upon the same principal as the Austra-Whites. If so, it should remain white but might gather a few more black spots. Should make a great layer!!

I think Austra Whites are a cross between a white leghorn hen and an Australorp Roo. Making for a calm, white egg layer.

Right you are but it's the same principal. By the way...I've had some of those 'calm' Austra-Whites. They are canabilistic vermin. I gave mine to the man who works for us (after telling him about my problems with them). He trimmed their beaks yet still 'offed' every one of them. They were just too wired and mean.

interesting. Mine are good, just want to range farther than the other chickens are happy with. Perhaps they just don't deal well with confinement?

Tell me if I'm following (just bits) this right. Does the egg shell color come from the rooster? Example: I mixed a white leghorn hen with a buff orpington rooster. If it's a pullet it should lay brown eggs. Correct?
