Australorps breed Thread

DesertChic, it's fine for you to gloat about your current temps.

I'll be sure to point out to you when the temp tops out at 74*F to 80*F in July and August during mid-afternoon and a medium to heavy quilt feels pretty good at bedtime.

I don't remember the last time we used air conditioning...

LOL! You got me there! My A/C goes on in June and stays on usually through September. But, I don't need to have the heat on most of the winter and not at all in spring and fall so it all balances out in the end.

When I lived in Ohio I would frequently get depressed during the winter. Since moving to AZ that just doesn't happen because we have so many more nice days the ugly ones. I sometimes miss the beautiful autumn colors in the four-seasons states, but overall I've no regrets about living here. And my achy body prefers the low humidity and warmth here too.

Hi All! I just inherited a small flock of Australorps (1 roo, 5 hens) from my boss, the survivors of a visit from neighbor dogs. Lovely birds! Much safer at my place it sounds. Look forward to reading this thread and getting to know more about them. Funny you call them Aussies, I have Australian Shepherds (Aussies) so I'll try not to get too confused!

We're like twins!

I don't like a really warm house in the winter either but thanks to the 'Fracking Gods', I have free natural gas and just don't give it a thought...

They'll be roasters Mrs. B!

Not much to report here today guys... it's raining and I don't feel good. The chicks are enjoying scratching in the mud but they run and hide every time the sky unleashes. Haha!

Quote: As she had a commentary for what the hens were saying ...I thought she ? would add a commentary of what the rooster is Saying ?
As the Rooster also Replies to the egg laying song
.
I think of it this way ...
The hen that laid a egg ".I laid a egg "
The Rooster or other hens " You laid a egg "
The hen that laid a egg ".I laid a egg "
The Rooster or other hens " Yes You laid a egg "
Etc
Do you mean the book or the song ?
