Thats Dodge, she doesn't want to eat them, just herd them. Her whole life revolves around herding things, chickens and ducks being her favourite

My (hopefully) girls, almost 3 weeks old :) Falling head over heels for chickens in general, but these 3 gals are so sweet I think I may stick with this breed for quite a while!

Dodge looks like a Heeler ? I would like to get one of those ..
They have them in the US ...expensive though
A lot of people think she's a Heeler or Heeler mix because of her blue colouring. But she's actually a pure bred Australian Kelpie (from working lines)

The blue ones aren't too common, black/tan and red/tan are the most common colours. We have loads of Kelpies here in Australia, but I'm pretty sure that they're quite rare over in the US...

They're really full on dogs, absolutely full of energy and always need a job to do! Dodge is 10 now, and she's still incredibly fit and active... I struggle to keep up with her! I also have an Australian Shepherd, and compared to Dodge, he's low energy... Dodge has 10 times the energy he does!

I don't necessarily let them out to free range but thy have a huge yard, that they get access to during the day as well as their normal yard, which is already fairly big by itself. I'm currently happily keeping 45 birds all up in this set up... I originally got into chooks to sell their eggs, so I've got a lot of production cross breeds... I'm planning to get more into pure breeds now, so I'm going to slowly re-home my production layers... Hoping to end up with a total of 20-25 birds, which will be much more manageable. I've come to the conclusion that if things aren't working out with a young roo, I'll move him in with my dad's small flock of production layers (10 hens) until I've got his new pen built :) So this is what I've come home with :D (excuse the mess in the background of the photos... I was in my parents metal recycling yard) Blue Cockerel (His dad is stunning!!) I'll have to think of a name for him... I like to name my roosters :) My other rooster is called, Mr. Roo... such a creative name, i know  Blue pullet... She's quite a dark blue compared to the others, which i'm glad about, I like the dark ones. Black pullet 1 Splash pullet Black pullet 2 And last... the lady also had some Plymouth Rocks in with the Aussies... only one pullet left, I just couldn't resist... so I've got this little one too :) I'll get some nice photos of them on my DSLR in the next day or so, once they're settled in :D
Very cute! Will be interesting to watch them as they grow! Oh and surely it would be traditional to name a blue rooster "red" :)

Give us more info : age ? etc
This Thursday I will have them for 3weeks. I was told it was a BR. This is my first time and I love to research and learn new things. So after the first day I knew it wasn't a BR but have no idea what It could be? I don't see a comb on it at all yet. I bought 11 babys at a feed store. I was told I have 1 dominate 2 barred rock and 8 white leg horn, all girls. I watched him feather sex. At the time I had no idea what he was look at:) i think 3 are boys but I am not really positive. I am just going by things I have read. Thank you so much for your help I really need it:)
