You may be correct.Nothing I can put my finger on but they just don't give me that 'Australorp' feeling...but I surely can and have been wrong!
At 5 weeks you have one cockerel to the right. If the legs are slate grey, bottom of feet pinkish white, all black feathering with green sheen down the road then maybe. There are a lot of different breed black chicks out there. Not every black chick is an Australorp that TSC would have you believe.

If the bottom of the feet are yellow they can be Jersey Giants, or Black sexlinks, not BA's.Good to know. I got these chicks from Aubuchon Hardware & they were from an order of 200 chicks from McMurray. The store got them at a discount because they were various breeds of cancelled chick orders. The clerks had no idea what they had & no list of what they could be but I took a chance because I REALLY wanted some Black Australorps. After looking at chick pictures, I did my best but now, have my doubts. I read they could be Jersey Giants. The bottoms of their feet look more yellowish than pink but their toes look kinda' pink. I have a 2 year old BA hen & think I remember her being more of a quiet chick & these 2 are a little on the rambunctious side.![]()
Must have been hilarious to see !Being rambunctious doesn't necessarily rule them out. When my Aussie finally went in with the big girls she would actually bounce on the others to get out the door to the food first. Luckily she outgrew that as she would squish them if she did that these days
