Australorps breed Thread

This is our "least friendly" chicken, and she still comes inside to say "hello". My Australorps are such big, beautiful birds.

Problem is due to the post they are already about a week old. Don't want to delay too long because of that.

This is how they arrived :-(

Five are clean
Three covered in broken egg goo

I've gently wiped the goo ones with paper towel as they were dripping. Think I'll put those in the incubator and the other 5 under penny.

Haven't got time now as heading out the door but will candle for cracks tonight before I go any further.

They were inside an egg carton?

If you know the seller, please teach them how to pack eggs....Shipping in egg cartons is the worst way to ship them.

Yes, set them as soon as they are at room temperature.

How awful. :( I'm so sorry, appps. I hope you still have a good hatch.

Ugh! I wish I could say I don't know what that's like, but I do. And in my case the seller wouldn't even respond to my messages. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I hope you have better luck with the hatch than I did. Of the unbroken eggs sent to me only one hatched....but I have to admit, I got a very unusual but sweet cockerel out of that one good egg. He's definitely a mixed breed, but I can only guess at the breeds. So....hopefully there will be a ray of light at the end of this hatch for you.

Here's a picture of my "mystery boy". I named him "Q" for Question, as in "What the heck are you?"
