Australorps breed Thread

Ron,
Doing real good this year. Just about done with the molt, so I am going to let them rest till breeding season meaning no lights! I sold BBS Aussies to NY, MO, IL, OH, TN, MD, VA, and WV. I was so lucky that I even had people drive from over 400 and 500 miles away to buy birds. I broke my rule this year and bred after April right thru the summer. I could not keep up with demand so I guess that says a lot.
Kurt
That is great news.

Please post some pictures when the molt is over. I would live to see them.

okay sexing guru's lol What are your thoughts. Some more updated photos I just took of my two babies. They will be 9 weeks old in 2 days. One just screams boy posture and has a more masculine face but there is really nothing much different about the comb and wattles, its not changed in difference to the other one since they hatched. Surely by this age it should be screaming rooster if it was?

The top one might be a boy. I would expect to see more of a curve on the wattle though.

I can see were you are thinking pullet and cockerel but so far looking at the hackle feathers they both look like pullets. It's easier with a full body picture to try and sex them.

Been a member for a little while. Dont post much. Need to post pics of my newly built coop sometime.
Currently have several BO hens but looking to expand the flock this spring and am leaning towards Australorps. Does anyone have the two breeds together?
How do they get along?

Also, while on the subject, what is the best way to source Australorp eggs when I have a broody hen?
Post to this thread or to the for sale / trade threads or both or?

I don't but as Australorps have some Orpington in their make up way back when I would guess they should be similar in temperament? Just a guess though.
