Thanks! Looks like a good product Ron. On My Pet Chicken they list 5 scientific studies favoring the use of humate/humic acid if anyone is interested. Wondering how you personally use it? For ie., do you alternate it with some ACV in your water? Can you use them together? Think I read somewhere you use BOB 3 days and then off for 2 weeks. Is that your practice?

Presently I am cleaning my feeder & water container with ACV and then leave a drop or two in the water. I add a drop or two to the bowl of water kefir and leftover grain fines on days I don't add water kefir but merely water. You could say it is my idea of FF cause I keep adding to it each day. I do smell it everyday to make sure it doesn't have a bad odor. It is easy to keep everything very clean with one hen I admit. LOL

I want to do my very best to keep my BA chicks healthy and happy so really appreciate very much your help today. Thanks again! ~Dee~
I use it according to the directions. I also give them Organic red wheat from Azure Standard or Chicken wheat very third feeding and that has 1/3C of Granulated sea kelp and 1/3C Food grade Diatomaceous earth along with omega booster.

It all makes the chickens Shiny!

Quote: Have you considered using a high quality non soy non corn feed that is not medicated? If they get Coci you can easily treat them with Corid. If they are immune compromised you really should get them on BOB. The studies mentioned show that they protect against death as well as boosting growth and etc.

I love Orringtons too!

Aveca,
Good luck with your hatch! Mine arrived today, after resting for about 10 hours they went in the bator tonight. I think I will post their growth rate every two weeks like the TigerCreek 5 if there are no objections to from the folks on this thread. I have not seen that done for quite a while. What do the masses think? I did speak to our benefactor tonight on the phone.

Looks like were having a hatchalong!! I will post as well..Mine all went in this morning...I need to ask our benefactor what the X means..I know what splash means, ross I think, urch, this man is remarkable with his records..I have written down each group..so I can start records of this ...I made notes of arrival how cold or warm ect....Its going to be fun and interesting....I have a muti BB Blk orp eggs in with them and another variety so its a full house...had a lot of trouble getting a fertile egg out of the blk orp hen , trimmed some fannys so we will see...Going to have 2 bators running by next week..

MeanV2 we'll be posting pics as we go for you.

Thanks for the info.I appreciate it...I have never had Coci here , in 28 years or so have never seen Coci..I guess I could describe the EO its like native americans and small pox The american birds have built resistance to things that some of the IEOs havnt ever been exposed to..I think I would do fine without med feed but did have one EO get mycotoxiosis (sp) Its a common fungus that grows everywhere here, pretty begnine but he had no resistance to it..At first Vet thought it was URV..But tests came back with the interesting mycotoxin.that was why none of the other birds were affected, only him, he had no resitance to it. So that was interesting....Honestly I have not had too much a problem much outside of predator attacks..I may not need med feed but its just a precaution..I really do not like soy based feeds, the reasons are many its a natural hormonal plant..causes problems in all species, Im not really fond of plastics either for wateres..I try to use cornell ware instead..What is BOB?

Quote: Hello Aveca. Thanks! Great to hear your good report about BA's. I must clarify that Ron actually does not have one specific post about clues to chick sex. lol I meant that I have been picking up his clues as he shares over a period of time. He is always such a good sport giving anyone his great tips with details. So many helpful folks here which I have found so enriching. ~Dee~

I want shiny birds too. ~Dee~

Quote: It is from Southland Organics. It is Big Ole Bird and has Humeric acid and other good things. It is the stuff Dee was talking about that showed good results in 5 University studies. It does work and your imported chickens would be helped by it. They will grow faster and stronger too.
Ron, Do you refrigerate BoB and does it have an expiration date? Thank you. ~Dee~
I do not refrigerate it and I do not see an expiration date on it. It turns the water black but the chickens seem to like it.
