They are outside already so they have a plentiful supply of grit and greens. They've almost gobbled up all the grass in their run though. I start offering all of my birds from a week on. They get it as they need it.

This is the sire of our garage brood. He is gigantic! I'm convinced he's the utter embodiment of the SOP.... even though I know I've been clinically diagnosed with a bad case of Mama Bias. Ha!

He is gorgeous!! Reminds me of my Spencer. Showed him until he was four or so, then sold him with my original flock when my mom got sick a few years ago.

I offer them fruit and other greens starting young, in small amounts, to get them used to me. It's a quick way to tame game breeds and I just transferred it over to layers when I got into them years back.

I figured you knew exactly what you were doing. Perhaps you've got some late-bloomers. I know proper Aussies can take a while to mature. No idea why mine have sprouted so quickly... This is my first time. >.>

The Texas trio! I like it! Either of you need a new rooster? I've got six upcoming cockerals and they are HUGE. I'll probably be putting them in freezer camp the end of April if I don't find them homes. I've got a shipment coming of hatching eggs I'm anxiously waiting on from fireman. I'll be putting those in the incubator as soon as the quail finish hatching ( so, probably Friday. )

I need to get some updated pictures of these birds. I was looking at them today, and, I think they're actually bigger than yours. Well, my cockerals are... They're pretty tall. A LOT bigger than the BR's they are brooding with. I'd say they're dang near a pound already, without weighing them. I may be wrong though.

My older hen is in the pen next to them. I'm hoping she is used to them by the time they all move in together so we don't have any fighting. They can see and talk to each other now.

Thanks but I've got my babies coming up & besides, I don't have any room for one. I'm hoping the boyfriend gets to finish the rest of my pens before these (the whole batch of 69 various chicks) needs to be divided up. His idea to get me into all this but dragging butt to build all the pens needed (to his defense, tho, work interferes a lot too). I think my Australorp count is 15 (pullets) & 5 males (are they considered cockerels @ almost a month old?) so I should have plenty.
