There is a guy near my parents advertises them for $5 a dozen. He obviously sells them as the price has never gone down.

I rarely have enough to give away let alone sell. Going to hatch a few more Aussies soon though to try and fix that, the one I've got is a fantastic layer. Just need someone to go broody and we are off on a hatching adventure again! Hope to add a blue and a black to my splash this time.

If y'all have friends that will not spend $3 for a dozen farm fresh eggs then you need new friends. Just keep the eggs, incubate them and sell the chicks for $5 each for day olds. $3 for a dozen verses $60 for a dozen chicks, you do the math! Just another option.

The Penedesenca in the front has an awesome comb. It is a Kings Comb.

The Splash Australorp is a bit shy so is behind the others and moving.

Ha Ha your right ...my friends pay 3.00 ..its those acquaintances that dont want to ...
chicks are more profitable ...but more trouble too.
Right now I have a mix of Ees , brahmas , Americana , Arucucana ., 18 I dont know what to do with ...Teen Roos are starting to get obnoxious at 3 1/2 months ..
May have sold 3 to the real estate lady

What's the temperament of the Penedesenca like? I've heard that they're very heat tolerant and have contemplated adding them to my much-bigger-than-I'd-planned-on flock.

Penedesencas are human avoidant--and a bit energetic. I like the a lot!

That said, mine come right up to me--to find treats not to get a cuddle though.
