[T]I have the same Rae. All three of my astrolorpes lay brown eggs and the eggs are getting a little bigger as well. The one with the white ears lays brown eggs. My giants lay a little lighter brown and the Polish are white. Dunno. ... [/B]

Pullets first few eggs tend to be small and then they get larger with maturity. Polishes are white egg layers. Jersey Giants and Australorps are brown egg layers.

If your pullets are very young they could appear to have pinkish ear lobes, however if they are mature and laying eggs and they have white earlobes they are of a mixed breed and not pure or accepted Australorps. Far to many people think that all black chickens are Black Australorps. 

As far as egg color here, or in Australia the accepted color is brown not white, however there are shades of brown due to the laying cycle of the bird and the birds age.

Good information. I have wondered about the little differences in them especially the white ears. So interesting. Thanks for sharing.

They are 11 weeks old....is the top one a slow boy or a fast girl????
I'm seeing 3 of each ATM.....

They do that sometimes. The trick is the comb and wattles and they are not big. The ones in the other pictures with the big combs and wattles are cockerels.

They are very cute!

Band her and see if she starts laying first.
