Blue is cool but personally I like the black better.

So I'm thinking I may have won some sort of lottery and have 1 roo and 8 hens under out of the 9 straight runs chicks I got.

Slim,
I was checking out your pics and noticed the small feeders and waterers. Do yourself a favor and get larger hanging ones and use the chains and hooks. It will make it a lot easier on you and keeping the food and water cleaner. Like this!

Here is my Australorp chick at 4 weeks today. Because the breeder had a mix up the second chick may be a Cream Lebgar/Ameraucana hybrid or a Bielefelder/ Ameraucana hybrid. The same story for the third chick. Hopefully all pullets .... ????? Getting a photo of them is nearly impossible so I put them in a tub and did what I could. In addition to starter they are eating chopped eggs, sunflower seeds and greens.... a little.

1st of all - I just saw all the beautiful RR Aussies - and if I had seen them earlier I would have lost my mind.

Now I will have to wait until nature and predators deplete the flock. Because Chicken Math has met it's inevitable conclusion - I have to stop getting more chickens right now or the Mister is going to put us all out on the street. :)

May I ask for thoughts on this Aussie? I am *pretty* sure it's a HE. For the sake of argument assuming I am right, he is developing totally different. My other Aussie of the same shipment feathered out tightly - this one has this poofy undercoat that makes him look half feathers and half cotton ball. Additionally - he looks like he has bigger legs, his tail feathers are coming in more slowly and the comb is a tad more pronounced. I think he's between 3 - 4 weeks old - that batch had been at the Farm Store for the better part of a week.

Thoughts on this one's gender?

Fairy,
Sorry to say at 3 to 4 weeks that is definitely a cockerel (little boy). Not all strains are the same, but my cockerels always feather out slower than the pullets. Between 4 and 6 weeks the comb will turn pinkish and the wattles will show if it is a boy.
