I just hatched 7 Austrolorp eggs that I bought from the local hatchery, and I have raised Lorps from chicks 2x before this. One of my last chicks to hatch looks different from the others: a lot more yellow around his temples and completly yellow wings instead of just the tips, and the yellow is a darker yellow than the creamy color on the other chicks (harder to see on the pic with the yellow lighting). I am wondering if I may have possibly ended up with a cross breed? Has anyone else ever seen this kind of coloring on their Austrolorps? I haven't, but was just wondering if it is possible. If it is a cross breed, I am going to have to watch him more closely to make sure it is a "him" since I dont know what cross breeding would do the the feather sexing that these chicks are bred for.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
