Here is a shot of my Australorp hens at 28 weeks...already been laying for about 8 weeks at this age.

Wow so that means she started laying at around 20wks--maybe Shirley will start soon too!
Also is that a Dom in the picture and if so shen did she start laying?

Ok, my chickens have to be slow developers or something because I know when I've got them they are going to be 8 months old soon.

It might be easier to just lock 'em in for a day or two and see if they lay, rather than go hunting for a nest. It doesn't look like they're any where close to laying with those faces and combs though. Are they exhibiting any other behaviour that might signal their readiness? Squatting? Becoming more vocal? Chicken PMT?
