I'm not sure if any countries actually back their cash with gold or silver
any more.
It's my understanding that our currency is actually backed in ways by oil.
I've read several papers on how this works but still can't grasp it.
Either way our monetary system is a house of cards.
I agree with many here about the bailout delaying the inevitable demise
of our automakers.
I hate to say this but the way we spend our money is more important
than our vote.
Writing and calling your Congressman and Senators, and asking your
friends to do the same, as HorseJody said in the beginning of this thread,
is also stronger than anyone's vote.
My last thought is something I'm repeating. I hate and am against the
idea of nationalized healthcare because I feel it will decrease the level
of care, possibly increase costs, and am philisophically against the
government getting larger or interfering in the free market.
In the case of the automakers, if the gov or Fed is gonna bail them out
then they should BUY them out. Throw out all management, put in
government appointed people to run them, and then split them up and
sell them off to Americans or small American companies with the vision
and brains to run them.
Oh god yes, I love the American system of health care where it can go bankrupt and lose my house. Gosh, I heard the main reason for bankruptcy in America is HEALTHCARE COSTS.
But that doesnt matter I want more of this American dream. I cannot get enough of putting my money in the pockets of the insurance companies leaving me stuck with 10, 20 percent left to pay of medical bills in that are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Hey, if I dont like it, I can just let the cancer eat me up.
Its called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it. - George Carlin - June 22, 2008 - Rest in peace.
