Automatic coop doors

I made my own using this blog post. I got slightly different parts so let me know if you’re interested and I can list. I know nothing about electronics but it was okay!

Some people use timer offsets too but I’m happy with the light sensor only. I’ve plugged mine into a smart plug so I can disable the door to keep it closed or keep it open if needed. It also means I could keep it shut for longer or open for longer by using a timer on the smart plug app which would override the light sensor!

That's really really cool. Do you have a pic or a video of it in action on an actual pop door? Would help with the visual. Your post and video are incredibly clear and explain it very very well. Thanks for that!

I have a few designs in the works. Just waiting on parts from across the sea, and we all know the hold up that is slowing everything down, so it is taking time for me to continue the builds.

I have the Omlet automatic door. It slides sideways and has a crush prevention system in case a hen decides not to move out of the way. I let it close on my hand and sure enough the door stoped and reversed.
