Automatic door

Ah yeah, I'll ask on their form if there'd be any way to replace the batteries in the future, thank you. They unfortunately don't make the models anymore with replaceable batteries. They only make the solar panel ones - which is fine, but ideally they'd be solar powered with a backup battery slot. I'll also fiddle with the panel sometime this week and see if there's any way to easily access the internals and see what kind of battery it's running on.

I hope you find a good solution. Solar may be better than changing batteries every 6-12 months.

Nevertheless Chickcozy may have lost me for a next purchase if I need another one. I have not enough confidence in small solar panels to buy the new type. I had a few small solar panels with a light & sensor. They all gave up after max 2 years. I have to admit were not very waterproof. Hope this Chickcozy is as waterproof as they say (IP65 ?).

Please make a review and update after a few years.

My omlet door came today, it's great so far. I have the app to open it and close it and to turn on the light. I'm trusting that it'll open itself in the mornings, I'll be around for the first few. But I always will be there to make sure it'll be closed and all the hens are in.

I have an Omlet door (3yrs) and a chicken guard door opener (1 yr). We made our own door for the chicken guard, used a heavy plastic cutting board. There are some negative reviews on the door part that you can purchase so we made our own. Both are working very well but I really like the Omlet. It’s more expensive though and we later purchased the battery powered light option. The batteries last about a year on both types.

I’m now looking for a third door for our bachelor coop. I’d really like to get another Omlet but I don’t want to spend so much money. Decisions, decisions……

The Chicken Guard All in one Door opener with gear drive is the best. Spend the money get away from the strings. I have had both and am soooo glad I have gear drive now. I used to have a lot of problems when we would get a little moisture and the string doors would freeze up and the door calibration would get off.

Spend the money, you will get all the bells and windows of light sensor, timer, etc. I normally run mine on time. Easy to calibrate.

I had a controller fail and they replaced it after we walked through some trouble shooting and they determined it was the controller.

This is a new type of door from Chicken guard. The mechanism probably works the same as the similar looking / cheap door openers with a thin plastic door.

Can you add this chicken door in the review section too? Bc I presume this door is constructed much better than the €25 door I bought last spring.
