Hi, I'm new to this world and can't wait to start raising some chickens. Right now I am finalizing my design for the chicken tractor I plan to make. It will be large enough for over a dozen hens with their living quarters above the run below with a ramp leading upwards. To protect them from predators (and we have a lot in my area) I wanted to incorporate a lift system that automatically raises and lowers the ramp for them at sunrise and sunset. I've seen the automatic chicken door lifts etc and could probably fit that to do what I need it to do, but I'd really prefer something battery powered, possibly with a solar charger. I'm pretty handy but not with electronics. I thought of using an automatic window blind motor but can't find anything reasonably priced. So basically I want something:
1. That can lift a couple pounds
2. Battery powered
3. Automatic light sensing

Any thoughts? I should also ask, is this even necessary? I just don't see a lot of people talking about how they protect their tractors from predators digging under the walls. Thanks!!!
