Automatic Pop Door Opener - HELP!

Quote:
Do you mean how much room between the opener and the open door? I believe it is an inch. Let me know if you need more info because I just ordered one today from Foy's. I'm sure I can answer questions when mine comes and I'll see for myself.

Foy's said unless I buy a door, the warranty is void on the opener. Lovely.

To prevent the door from being opened by a coon, etc., my understanding is that you put a small lip at the bottom of the door, I plan to use a strip of wood.

Hmm, I was going more for the total distance from the ground to the roof needed...Right now my door swings up because I'm pretty sure that it would hit the roof if I had one that slid up.

I bought mine used, yet the people at Foy's were very helpful when I had a problem. That was impressive. The door can weigh anything from 7 oz to 7 lbs. I used a 2 lb polyethylene cutting board because it is thicker, and I think stronger, than a thin metal door. I bought aluminum U channel from Menard's through which the door slides. I mounted it on the inside, and left my outside swinging door installed for better draft protection during nights when it is expected to be extremely cold.

I have the inside install and use the timer with it, it works like a dream.. have never had a problem!! well worth he money IMO

i just change the timer for summer and winter hours other than that there is no hassel and never had any chickies left out in run.. it is simply fab!!

I got my opener from Foy's and installed it on Saturday. While it was expensive - it's worth it!!!

I love it! It has closed every night and opened every morning. I didn't adjust anything and it's working perfectly right out of the box. Now if I don't make it home in time I'm pretty sure my girls will be closed up in the coop and safe.

I also don't feel guilty anymore for not getting up early to let them out. DH works the late shift so we don't get up very early and that problem is solved too.

My girls must love it because since I've installed it 2 more pullets have started laying.

I LOVE my chickens!
